R5-1600 vs I5-7600k Now ever faster! (Overclocked Benchmarks 1080/1440p)

Big Head Tech

Well as I promised, overclocked benchmarks are here.  I only used games with actual in-game benchmarks and I must say, I did NOT expect Kaby Lake to lose here to be honest.  The video is in my status update, but For Honor where the 7600k won, it was choppier with lower lows and higher highs.  The board I used for Ryzen couldn't OC ram past 2133MHz, so only CPU core clock was changed here.

Ryzen 5 1600 settings

  • 3900MHz (all cores)
  • 1.35V
  • Corsair H100I V2
  • EVGA GTX 1080 FTW (2025MHz)

Core I5-7600K Settings

  • Core Ratio 45
  • Agent Ratio 42
  • Core Voltage 1.3V
  • SA Voltage 1.15V
  • VCCIO Voltage 1.1V
  • NZXT Kraken x60
  • EVGA GTX 1080 FTW (2025MHz)

Basically I got each chip to OC 700MHz over their base frequencies. Below are the settings and results.

Pretty much neck on neck. AMD did a great job here

They are also basically the same price here in Germany

I flipped them on accident. Fixed them in the video but not here.

would be super interested seeing this with higher ram speeds, as 2400 is pretty accessible these day, not even counting 3000/3300.

These are finally some interesting times for CPU comp.

What GPU did you use?

Edit: stupid me, cannot read properly, did you use your Kraken x60 for cooling ryzen 1600 or did you use stock cooler?
