What will you be doing?  Mostly gaming?

For more casual or intense games, 4K one.  For esports like CS:GO and stuff go for the 144 hertz one.

Also:

What is your rig like?

Will you be doing professional stuff or video/movie watching on there too?

Choose the 4K one for more everyday and less intense games, pick the 1440p one for more intense games.  Depends which one means more to you.

Unless you love pixels, I'd go for the 1440p one since music composition doesn't really need a very high-res display.

1440p@120hz+ with ULMB looks and feels better than 4k@60hz.  It's not even close, people who would choose 4k@60hz simply haven't spent any time playing on a faster monitor that doesn't have any motion blur or frame persistence.  Once you have played on a monitor that's perfectly crisp/clean, super smooth and has great positional accuracy (from the higher refresh rate) you will never be able to go back because the feel/registration is significantly better for online games.  I can't wait until 1440p@240hz + ULMB is a thing, but I have a feeling it is going to be quite a while before that's possible :(

6.66% = drastically higher load?

I guess 1920×1200 is really significantly more difficult to run than 1920×1080 too, because that's an 11.1% increase. Oddly I never noticed much of a difference.

If the claim is "4K 60 is too high load, use 1440p 144hz instead" yes

I'd go for 1440p 144Hz. IMO you get a better gaming experience with higher Hz than you do with pure resolution, especially when a lot of textures aren't 4K anyway. I also find 1440p to be more practical for everyday use as 4K, unless it's on a big screen (32"+) is too small without scaling to be considered easily usable. It does have benefits for productivity work though as it gives you more pixel real estate to work with.

nearly all textures are less than ''4k'' a few meters away as the resolution quickly runs out of pixels to fully display the textures.

you will be amazed at the 4kness of potato games when you look at textures 6 meters away.
