Someone tell me why i shouldn't or should buy a 1080ti when my current card is a 1080fe.

I was planning on selling it and getting the asus rog strix 1080ti when it comes back to newegg.

*If someone wants to buy the 1080fe throw me in right direction.

Are you getting the desired amount of FPS out of your 1080? If yes then don't upgrade.

What's your monitor's refresh rate? Is it a big enough increase to justify the upgrade?

Ah well if you're getting over 60fps in games then there's no point in upgrading unless you plan on getting a higher resolution or higher refresh rate monitor (assuming you're using a 1080 or 1440 16:9 monitor).

Sorry, I refuse to believe that there is any game that won't run at ultra 1440p and achieve at least 60 fps with a decent CPU and a gtx 1080. Get a higher resonlution and\or refresh rate monitor if you really want to justify getting a 1080ti. Otherwise, you are wasting your money, because your display does not allow you to push the games further then your gtx1080 can achieve.

If you're only gaming on one monitor then still no point in upgrading.

don't bother, just overclock your card or put a loop in and wait for the 1180ti to make it worthwhile

But if you have 1000 fps on a 60hz monitor then you are still only seeing as many frames as your monitor is capable of displaying.

Probably next year.  You should be able to max everything out at 1440p and maintain 60fps.  If you had a 1440p 144hz monitor or 4k monitor then a 1080ti would be beneficial.  But with your current setup, unless you just wanna blow money with no noticeable gain then stick with what you have.

It was worth it for me at 1440p... course I had the EVGA step-up to rely on so I only ended up paying 30 bucks....

I did the same, but mine cost me $144 with faster shipping.    But I'm running 1440p 144hz, so it was worth it in my opinion.

They give you 90 days after you buy one of their gfx cards to upgrade to a better card for the price difference between the two + shipping.

You buy an evga card and register it within 14 days.  Then you have 90 days after date of purchase to trade it in to a different EVGA card that is on their step-up list.  You just pay for shipping your card to them as well as the difference between the price between the two cards and shipping costs for the new card.

At 1440p 60Hz 1080 is plenty. Hell a 1070 will get 60 in Ultra for most games. The 1080 Ti is only worth it for 1440p 144Hz, Ultrawide 3440x1440, or 4K of course.

Actually.. I tried running Rise of the Tomb Raider with EVERYTHING maxed INCLUDING AAx8 at 1440P/144 Hz and I couldn't hold 60 FPS with 2000 Mhz+ GTX 1080 Ti.

I was around 45-55ish in the beginning stages of the game.

Once I dropped the AA down to FXAA, I think my FPS was around 100+.

How important is AA to you?
