Its just getting older and it makes me get worried is all. The i7 and mobo are from 2011. They have no issues. I just dont know if they will in the future. But I guess I could just spend the money then if something happens.

It should be fine if you ask me. Like you said ... upgrade when something breaks or stops working.

Or at least wait few more months to see how low prices will drop :)

Is there any point on going from my stock I7-2600 to Ryzen?  I had high hopes for the 1600x but it looks like when OC'd its still behind the I5-7600k. Right now I am gaming at 4k with a GTX 1080Ti and am getting pretty great performance. Would the only real noticeable upgrade be to go with an i7-7700k?

Unless you're also doing a bunch of workstation stuff, I'd say no. Even then though.. the i7 2600 still will hold up pretty decent

Well. If you're playing only in 4k. I'd honestly just stick with the sandy i7

i5 2400 | ASUS RTX 4090 TUF OC | Seasonic 1200W Prime Gold | WD Green 120gb | WD Blue 1tb | some ram | a random case

Why even bother with upgrade if you still have great performance with your PC. Wait till you see low FPS and then upgrade your PC.

Right now, Ryzen seems like great CPU for it's price, but it can't compete in gaming with Intel on the other side. At least not in most cases.

I'd say hold off for now until new Intel CPUs come out later this year, or Zen :)

Trust me, i7 2600 will be fine for a while mate

Just tuck some funds away for that rainy day when the fecal matter hits the oscillating air cooling device. But really unless you're working or streaming ryzen intel is better than AMD atm

Awesome! The 2600 has really just been a fantastic purchase. I do wish I had gotten the 2600k but I was afraid of Overclocking back when I got it. Still after 6 years the 2600 at stock is performing at current I5 levels.

That is probably what I will do. Maybe Coffee Lake will be a larger upgrade with faster IPC, higher clock speeds and 6 cores.
