[Updated] Nvidia releases a new Titan X GPU called "Titan Xp"

I mean I guess this is still better than apples moronic naming convention where this would of been called the "New Titan X"

What to complain, you got it easy, I'm with a fake Titan XP now, kinda of a dick move, you buy a Titan expecting to have the finest card of the architecture then you get a 80ti that is equal and a second Titan that is better? what's with that...

The new Titan Black.  This tactic is nothing new from Nvidia.

O well, can't blame the company when there are many easy people to split with their money.

Seems a few on here forgot about the first Titan

OG Titan

780 Ti

Titan Black

All over again

Titan XP

1080 Ti

Titan Xp

Sure working out good for Nvidia's bank account.

One of the major reason I don't touch Titan cards anymore.  That whole tier is for milking.

Plus, Titan XP was a crap Titan.  It was gimped right out the door way (not full die).

Is it finally a full P100 card with HBM2 like their fully unlocked Tesla?

Hmm, unlike full Pascal it doesn't have HBM2 either.

Man, people thought I was mad when I said they could release a new "Titan Black", yet here it is.

I love how they're comparing it to Titan X ( Maxwell ) LOL. Sneaky buggers. Most people will think it means the current

This is gp102,like in the quadro p6000,  not gp100.

The older titan x (pascal) used a cut down gp102, with 3584 out of 3840 cuda cores enabled.

Is nvidia just doing this to screw with everyone who called the titan x (pascal) the titan xp?

Here we go again with another overpriced product that will be obsolete in what, 6 months top? Why would anyone buy this? Haven't we seen what happened with every single titan preceding this one?

lol the name... The pascal titan X is gonna be so weird in the used market now. I even bet some will market it as an XP when it really isn't, and try to get away with it.

7.1% more cuda cores than 1080ti and 3.6% faster memory speed.

Can someone theorise performance difference?

I'm guessing the extra 1GB memory won't make a huge difference for now.

And @Princess Cadence

History repeats itself (shockingly), what's not to get? Look at Kepler. The Titan launched as a cut-down GK110, then a few months later a slightly slower 780 launched, then a few months after that the 780Ti launched as a a full GK110 and then a few more months later a Titan Black launched as a full GK110.

The Titan X(P) was likely a cut down GP102 due to yields. Now that yields have gotten better (or demand for full GP102 chips has decreased), Nvidia can sell a full GP102 core.

Given the price and performance of the 1080ti, and the release of a Titan Xp now, clearly that was the Titan FU.

History repeating doesn't mean it makes sense.  I know this is a common occurance (hence why i bought the Ti) but it just means that i STILL don't get why they do this each time.  Also i don't get why people keep buying titans haha

They didn't have enough GP102 to sell full GP102 Titans, hence the need for a cut-down core. So from day 1 Nvidia could've sold a 1080Ti and a Titan X(P) with a cut-down GP102 core, but they can make more money by releasing the Titan first (at double the price) and then releasing a 1080Ti. Then, as there is no reason to buy a Titan with the 1080Ti in existence, they begin to sell a full GP102 Titan (now that they have a suitable supply) and make more money. It makes perfect sense. The only thing that doesn't make sense is why anyone would buy a Titan, and the answer to that is either they're impatient or they bought into marketing.

My Titan X still faster than 1080ti due to gold silicon :P

And yes you're missing something, nVidia always market the Titan as the top of the line for each architecture, I was already preparing for the Titan X Volta next year knowing it would be the newest fastest card, then all of sudden there is a Titan X Pascal 2.0? that's stupid, it would be no different than buy a Fury X and AMD later release Fury X 2 for the exact same price and architecture.

This is worse than re-branding on my opinion.

Now I know better, not to buy a Titan X Volta, wait for the Titan Xv that comes after the GTX 2080ti

I know. It's just so silly that I wish it was.

In nvidia's defense the Pascal version of titan is not officially called titan xp. The official name is Titan X or Titan X (Pascal). This is the official Titan Xp. And if anyone has noticed the P In Titan Xp is lowercase.

I wonder if people who buy Ferraris get angry at Ferrari when they release a new model.

Seems a silly thing to get angry about.
