Let's be fair, the naming scheme isn't the best, but it wouldn't be as confusing if people actually used their full names.

It goes:

NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX Titan X (this is the Maxwell card)

NVIDIA Titan X (this is the first Pascal card)

NVIDIA Titan Xp (newest one)

NVIDIA GTX Titan That Is Not Maxwell Based (2017) is actually not a bad idea.

2016*

This new one is the NVIDIA GTX Titan That Is Not Maxwell Based (2017).

Anyway, my vote goes for:

  • Titan X
  • Titan X(P) (pronounced Titan X Open parenthesis Capital P Closed parenthesis)
  • Titan Xp (pronounced Titan X little P)

But after 23 models we would get another Titan X

You can never get rid of the X.

I don't really watch the WAN show but this time I'll have to watch it to see what @LinusTech will say about this...

Any ways I already updated my signature.

Yup I only watch the WAN show when I know they are gonna discuss the topic that I am interested in.

It would be a shame if we don't have Linus on the WAN show this weekend.

Because there is no competition at the high end of the GPU market. Nvidia completely controls that market segment and so is able to sell the same GPU technology to consumers over and over and over again.

That's not even what the problem is here. Presumably yields weren't good enough to sell a full GP102 Core, but now they are, so nvidia released an all around better refresh for the same price. The problem here is the shitty name scheme nvidia has.

is nvidia going to give people who've bought the XP a free upgrade, or offer rebates, as that's just really shitty, to release tiny updates to their already ridiculously expensive cards.

Intel i5-6600K@4.2GHz, 16GB Crucial DDR4-2133, Gigabyte Z170X-UD3, Be quiet shadow rock slim, Sapphire RX 480 Nitro+ OC, Fractal design Integra M 550W, NZXT S340, Sandisk X110 128GB, WD black 750GB, Seagate momentus 160GB, HGST 160GB

It would be shittier of them to continue selling a weaker card if they now have the ability to sell a better one for the same price.

Anyone who bought the Titan X(P) did so expecting Titan X(P) performance (not Titan Xp performance) and knowing full well that a 1080ti would more than likely launch at a significantly lower price point.
