[Updated] Nvidia releases a new Titan X GPU called "Titan Xp"

Nvidia released a brand new card in their Titan X lineup.

edda7e8d14951b54e5ae8e9c3b87ecb3.png

It's called "Titan Xp" yep. Titan Xp. not XP.

Well this is a whole different card than Titan X (Pascal) which was released on August 2016 and faster than the 1080 Ti.

It features full GP102 GPU with 12GB of GDDR5X memory.

It also has 3840 CUDA cores. 1080 Ti has 3584 CUDA cores/

Slightly faster memory from 11 Gbps to 11.4 Gbps.

Although it has same Boost Clock as 1080 Ti which is 1582 MHz. (Founders edition)

With 12 Tera FLOPS of theoretical throughput, and its 384-bit memory bus offers a theoretical 547.7 GB/s of bandwidth.

  • Compared to the last-generation GTX Titan X (Maxwell), Titan Xp has improved
    • GPU performance by 84%,
    • ROP throughput by 47%,
    • Memory bandwidth by 63%.
  • Compared to the new 1080Ti, the Xp has:
    • 13% more memory bandwidth at 547.2GB/sec
    • 7% more shader/texture/geometry throughput and
    • 9% more ROP throughput.

Update:

On Nvidia's blog, it says that there will be support for Mac users.

Quote

Open to Mac Community

Speaking of users, we’re also making the new TITAN Xp open to the Mac community with new Pascal drivers, coming this month. For the first time, this gives Mac users access to the immense horsepower delivered by our award-winning Pascal-powered GPUs.

I don't think it is worth the money for gaming though. As I'm sure that the extra money doesn't justify the performance but for productivity stuff this thing is a monster. I expect a really good performance increase over GTX 1080, Titan XP.

nVidia's still making April Foals jokes? what the actual fuck.

After this move I am strongly reconsidering buying the Titan XV, After all there will be a Titan Xv later for the exact same price and marginally superior to make up for the GTX 2080ti.

Is it finally a full P100 card with HBM2 like their fully unlocked Tesla?

Hmm, unlike full Pascal it doesn't have HBM2 either.

Man, people thought I was mad when I said they could release a new "Titan Black", yet here it is.

I love how they're comparing it to Titan X ( Maxwell ) LOL. Sneaky buggers. Most people will think it means the current Titan X.

I'm pretty sure anyone who has a Titan X knows what they have exactly. Unless they were some rich kid who asked their parents to buy something from Falcon Northwest or maxed out the sliders on a Cyber Power PC build.

Can somebody make colorfull flickering gif of Linus with text "LINUS TRIGGERED".

Cause he WILL be so triggered when he will have to rename again Titan X and Titan X "pascal" to avoid confusion with Titan XP :D

Lots of People in the UK and EU bought the Titan X, after the Pascal was announced, not knowing the difference and because the NVIDIA store in Europe only services a few select countries.

So many bought from retailers, accidently buying the wrong one due to wrong information out there, or from Ebay getting screwed.

For instance I'm in Ireland and cannot order from the UK, or EU NVIDIA store. It blocks my purchases due to credit card originating in Ireland. It doesn't matter if ai try and use a shipping forwarder, it'll block those as well.

Even if you use a VPN, once again to Money origin nation.

It's only the last month they even Added Ireland to the available list of countries.

So now that we have an actual Titan Xp, what do we call the Titan X that isn't Maxwell based?
