Help my friend save some money!

Hello all!,

So its my friends b-day soon and his wish is to get a mid-range Gaming PC. Overall, the budget is around 350-400 EUROS/SWISS FRANKS, in all caps cause I know you americans have it cheap :P. And i have a question regarding the PC i want to build for him. Overall, I would like to go for a GTX 1050ti from Gigabyte, but the CPU is the problem. Currently, he has an All In One HP, that has a GTX 860, and an i7. I was wondering weather it will work if I take the cpu, ram, and hard drive from his all in one, and put that in a nice rgb case with the 1050ti, motherboard, and power supply. If this is possible it will save us a lot of money, thanks.

(im not actually paying, im just building it :P)

No the motherboard will not fit in any case because it has a unique form factor that no case manufacturer supports.

I don't think he means the MB just the other components. In either case he is right @Fluffybakon while the motherboard wouldn't fit the other components should you would just need to buy a new motherboard to go with the new case.

I don't think moving it over will work, if they have an 860 then it's likely a laptop type motherboard using a mobile CPU and RAM which will both be soldered to the motherboard or not fit a standard desktop motherboard.

The hard drive should work though.

CPU might work, depends on if it's in a standard desktop CPU mount or not.

If @Fluffybakon was talking about the GTX 860M, then he is out of luck

OP: It seems like your friend's All In One uses mobile parts which are non removable. Seems like you have to get a entire new PC.
