1050 Ti for Game design

Zando_

Just wanted to know: will a EVGA 1050 Ti Superclocked be good for running Unreal Engine and messing around with game design? Or is there a better card out there for about the same price (Max $140, as I can only spend $200 a month, and I need a computer case as well)?

If you aren't expecting your target audience to want bleeding edge graphics or you want to make sure this is the lowest end you can run your game, sure.

Although I'm in more of the "start small and scale up" design philosophy. It's easier to scale up than it is to scale down.

I think the 1070 is out of my price range right now, and If I decide to get serious about game design and my graphics are failing me, then I can upgrade. Though if I get a powerful card, my CPU (dual core Pentium @ 2.9Ghz) will probably bottleneck it. I've got to upgrade that before I go any higher, I'm thinking an i5 K series off of eBay for about $80.

You will be hold back by your system no matter what. You have to upgrade your entire system. Messing around with engines is a heavy task for your pc. Would recommend at least a GTX 1070, if you want to get a good experience.

While I have not worked a lot with engines, i highly doubt this. Battlefield 3 was created even before the HD 7000 Series of AMD. After your theory, they must've had a terrible experience creating the game.

Of course, Engines have become more demanding but OP is (probably) not trying to create the next AAA game so i see no problem.

Unreal Engine lists "DirectX 11 compatible graphics card" as recommended hardware so...

Edit: As to your question, @Zando Bob: I guess there would only be the RX 460 which is under 140$ and i believe the 1050ti performs better in most cases, though both gpus will be good options.

It very well could be. I got all my info from various other people.

I saw the RX 460, but like you said, the 1050 Ti outperforms it, and I can afford it, so why not? Also, the Unreal Engine is a 5+ GB beast of a program, but it manages to run (slowly, with low settings) on the integrated graphics of an older Pentium, and slightly smoother on a laptop with an AMD A8 with Radeon HD 7640G graphics. So it should run great on a 1050 Ti. Though If me and my cousin ever want to make anything in 4K, it'll be time for a whole new computer (With at least a 1070!!).
