I'm a long time viewer and reader of forums, but only just signed up for an account today :) and I'm developing chrome and firefox extensions to "auto-tag" people's  amazon and potentially thinkgeek sessions so that the Linus Media Group affiliate codes get used without even having to find their bookmark.

for example:

Bob visits amazon.com to order a new CPU; he searches through and finds his item. Bob wants to support Linus Media Group with his purchases, Bob has my chrome extension installed, so that Bob doesn't even have to think about tagging his session; it's automatically tagged by the chrome extension; Linus Media group get their cut and the viewer isn't even slightly inconvenienced.

The Amazon Italy link appears to be going to .es? And if you get the thinkgeek affiliate sorted i can sort it out in the extension;

I'm currently testing out the chrome extension, will move onto the firefox extension when i get done on chrome.

The extension can potentially be expanded to work with any affiliate.

I'll make sure to use it on my next purchase.

They use Yodel mostly for deliveries, but so do Ebuyer where I like to buy my components so no real love lost.

For beginners and experts Squarespace makes designing and hosting a website easier and more beautiful than ever. They have many templates suitable for blogging, eCommerce, photography portfolios and much more. They also have scalable hosting solutions so that your bandwidth and hosting can scale with you. The Linus Media Group website is hosted using SquareSpace. It took only a couple days to get up and running and and as hard as we've tried to crash it by directing everyone to it during our weekly live cast, we've never once managed to do it.

Hotspot Shield

Offer Code: LINUS

20% Off Elite Prices

Hotspot Shield is a VPN service that Linus has used for a number of (completely legitimate) purposes since first being introduced to it. VPNs are great for protecting your privacy online by making it more difficult for your location and identity to be tracked while you're browsing. They also allow pesky geographical restrictions such as Netflix's notoriously different regional libraries, YouTube/Google blockages, and news site blackouts to be circumvented. The free version is ad-supported, so we really recommend going with an Elite membership, and of course you can save 20% with our offer code ;)

I don't know but you can try adding &tag=linustechtips-20 to the end of the URL. I would suggest though that it's more important to give the contribution to charity than to Linus though, so even if it doesn't, keep using Smile.

From where?

As per the first page, you get 1 free audiobook from audible, 10% off squarespace and 20% off Hotspot shield. The others have no benefit to you except better content from Linus (&co), but I would say that that's more than worth the effort for clicking one link instead of another.

I am just trying to find out if Linus Media Group made any agreement with amazon regarding special promotion codes. Some companies do that.

Damn that kid grew. Remember back when the Titan came out.
I assume that is how Linus takes care of him.

Started growing teeth - When Titan came out
First word - When 780 came out.
First walk - Release of mantle.

I signed up for the FiveFour Club and got my first "package" (bubble envelope).

All I got were 2 shirts and a t-shirt. definitely not worth the normal $60 price. luckily I got it for $40 thanks to Linus. But definitely not impressed.

I was expecting a nice looking package like they have in the video, and I was expecting a complete look (t-shirt, shirt, jeans and shoes). nope. not the case here.

If I wouldn't had to spend $10+ to ship this back to them I would.

I emailed them to cancel my membership.

Just spent about £226 using the Amazon UK affiliate link, hopefully it went through OK. Will probably be spending another £500 or so in the coming weeks and will try to remember to use the affiliate link again.

Finally putting together my new build. Using pcpartpicker, I've been playing around with different builds for months. Thankfully everything I'm after seems to be available through Amazon. The plan is;

CPU - i5-4670K

MB - GIGABYTE GA-Z97-HD3
GPU - MSI R9 280
RAM - Corsair Vengeance 2x 4GB DDR3-1600
SSD - Samsung 840 EVO 250GB
Case - Corsair 200R case (windowed version)
PSU - EVGA 600W
Optical - Pioneer BDR-209DBK Blu-Ray Writer

EDIT:
Put in an order for the rest of the parts today, using affiliate link ;)

Have been planning on watercooling my PC since May last year and have never gotten round to it for a number of reasons. I'm currently on holiday and will be heading home tomorrow afternoon, but I've been without a computer (decent one, at least) for nearly two weeks and I've decided that I should maybe spend the money for my watercooling on buying myself a decent laptop. It just so happens that a friend had an Asus G750JW (I think.. The one with the 765M) that they lent me to play some games with other friends. I was really impressed by the build quality and quite impressed by the performance of even the lower end model. As such, I'm really tempted to get a G750 but I'm still contemplating which one and how much I'm willing to spend. Then I remembered that Linus was sponsored by that laptop at the moment and wondered if there was an offer code or anything for it. Can't find one anywhere and I can't even find a reference to use to say that Linus' sponsor got me to buy one. Does either exist? If so, what is it?

TL;DR: Asus G750JZ sponsor code, anyone?

There was none afaik, it was just a sponsored mention on the show. The idea was that it's so good that you don't need a discount :D

Haha. Don't think I can deny that. But it is dang expensive. Though if I look at similar specs, it's actually not bad. The two I'm looking at are the "low-end" version and the top-end version.

Links here:

G750JW-T4099H, ASUS G750JW-T4099H, 66534778 - Simply Asus

G750JZ-T4056H, ASUS G750JZ-T4056H, 6387732 - Simply Asus

Not bad prices and damn good specs. I don't think I could live without the 16GB RAM though. May even have to upgrade to 32GB (what, I use a lot of RAM... A lot of the time...). Not really sure what performance I'll get from the 765M, but I know it's not too bad. But I know what to expect from the 880M and that's really kinda why I want to get it. Not only that, but if I ever go 4K, the 880M will be able to play a lot of games at lower settings at reasonable framerates, whereas the 765M will just die.

Right, well I better get to sleep as I'll be travelling for the next 36-ish hours. Good night.
