Thank you. Will try it after mdsched. Any tips on how to pass 2933? :) and run my mem with 3200?

don't waste your time with a memory test, you need to move the base clock if you want higher memory speeds.

It might not be possible to go over 3Ghz. At least not until there's a few BIOS updates for stability.

Beyond 2933 MHz appears to be possible, but it needs to be with two sticks AND in single-rank configuration.

I have the vengeance lpx which i believe is dual rank.

"Dual Rank" is a bit different from "Dual Channel."

If you have a memory lot that has two sticks, it is probably advertised as "dual channel."

"Dual Rank" involves the motherboard, not the RAM sticks.

It's the other way around: support for multiple channels depends on the motherboard (and the CPU). The rank is a property of the RAM sticks.

What people is saying about Ryzen is that it has an easier time working with faster RAM when using single-rank dimms than using dual rank dimms (or higher), in all cases running the memory in dual-channel mode.

Yes. I mean, you can still have several memory ranks even if each stick is single rank, so it's not exclusively about the sticks. But higher rank-count sticks will lead to a higher minimum number of overall ranks (if I understand it correctly, that is :P)

I've ran that exact same ram at 3200 c16 on the old origional bios the board came with.  Could not go over 2666 under the 0902/0903 bios.  The new 1001 bios works very well, currently sitting at 3327mhz and stable.

Update the bios and you'll find a lot more stability.  (Also, it's not in the ASUS website directly)

It's a hero BIOS.  Because you're a new member, I'm not going to link you directly to something that may or may not ruin your stuff if you try to use it.

I can however tell you that it can be found on ROG forums if you know where to look.  Saves me from giving you a direct download to something that might ruin your hardware, and I can find no forum activity for a bios update for your current board. Looking at the updates, it seems you're getting the trickle down of the updates to the hero line.  Just wait, and they will arrive eventually.

Rule of thumb: 8 and 16gb sticks (not kits, I mean individual sticks) are Dual Rank, 4 are single. There are exceptions, but those are rare.
