FX Build Overkill? Wait till Cheap Ryzen 5?

The 8350 is obviously going to be a much cheaper upgrade and quite frankly a massive upgrade from your current build.

Have you already purchased the motherboard and memory for the FX 8350?  What price would you be paying total for the CPU, motherboard and memory?

The Ryzen platform is newer and will likely have better performance, but depending on what sort of price you'd be looking at for the FX build it may still offer better price/performance.

Out of curiosity, do you actually live in SA?  Your PC specs seem more in line with something I'd expect in a second or third world country.

189 dollars. And Yes I do Live in SA. Well in TX

That gigabyte board and an fx8350 isn't a good pairing, but i actually want to make one correction, there is one board with a 4+2 power phase design that works with the fx8350 fine, the asus m5a97fx r2.0 (not the LE one). That said i advice against it, you should really try to go for ryzen, its worth it for the extra price.

Both Gigabyte and PCPartPicker says they are compatible withe the 8350 but will this work? Gigabyte GA-970A-D3P

Only issue is budget and I am worried is that the the AM4 Mobo's and Ryzen are gonna be too expensive

FX ain't overkill to begin with even the 9590 will lag behind the current offerings, save for a ryzen 5

An FX 9590 lags behind my older-by-5-years Xeon X5450 single threaded......when I have it overclocked to only 4GHz

Anything from the FX series might be an upgrade, but for the most part the FX 8350 isn't even as good as an i3 despite the thread count (on another note, its 4 modules 8 cores and in games for the most part it runs like a slow uad core).
