Upgrade Linux Virtual Windows PC (Work and Gaming)

Hello Community,

i am running Ubuntu LTS 16.04 and a KVM Win10 VM with Hardware Passthrough.
(My system is listed Beleow)
With my normal usage i am getting between 85-95% Cpu Usage + a Heavy Ram Usage.
My system doesen't feel that snapy anymore,

furthermore i am not so happy about my single Thread Perfomance.

So i want to do a little upgrade between 500-1500€.
Thought about a Ryzen CPU+ Faster Storage, but i am not sure since Ryzen only has 24 Pci Express Lanes. And Some(Hardware Passthrough Related Issues)
Or should i wait on Skylake EP ?

Ryzen has 24 Chipset lanes + 16 CPU lanes.

I don't know anything about Ryzen hardware passthrough, but if you do end up buying a Ryzen (8 core obviously), you would see more performance. (by passing 6 cores to your VM)

looks like a pretty good system for running vms - maybe you should try cleaning up your drives and optimizing them then run some benchmarks - same thing for my work pc - my vms weren't running as fast anymore so i just cleaned up all my disks and tried a different raid - twice as fast now
