VEGA performing better than Nvidia's product is good because it will scare Nvidia and make them try harder.

There is no disadvantage to AMD's VEGA beating the GTX 1080Ti.

If you want to buy a 1080Ti regardless of how badly the VEGA GPU(s) might beat it then that is your problem and not AMD's or the consumer's.

I'm thinking I'd look at EVGA most likely for a 1080 ti.  I'm rather curious to see hoe their new ICX cooler design works since I'd heard Gigabyte 10 series GPU coolers are supposedly louder than other brands.

if they have two skus (due to offering 4GB HBM2 and 8GB HBM2) then I'm guessing one will target the 1080/1080Ti and the other will target 1070.

The RX 480 is a 1080p performance card... Why would you want VEGA 10/11 for 1080p?

i... i dont think you understand what i am refering to here. if i was refering to game preformance at 1080p i would have written 1080p. i am refering to the GTX 1080 which i would think most people understand seeing as we are talking about the top teir in graphics here. the GTX series of cards can usiually be referd to as just the model nummer seeing as they more commonly come up and GTX takes longer to wright then R9 or RX but you can just cut that from AMDs names aswell. 

 

basically im refering to the GTX 1080 here, seeing as this GPU will probably be hitting around there.

you can refer to GPUs without the model prefix like GTX, R9 or RX and almost always get your point across. its like using lol instead of typing out the entire thing or wrighting hahahaha or whatever

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Likely to be a CPU limitation, rather than GPU. But also pointless if you're pushing pixels faster than your monitor refresh rate which I think is 240hz at the moment, and most decent GPUs in the $200-300 price range can push that.

gets really hard to push over 500fps in CS:GO if im right, CPU starts to bottleneck seeing as it can only use 4 threads

if you take the fury x perf and scale it by 50% (clock imcrease that will likely happen based on mi25 specs ) you get 1080 + bit in perf, thats the bare minimum then there is the polaris ipc improvement, then on top of that there is the vega ipc improvement so its going to be good

4GB doesn't cut it nowadays if you want to max out (or come reasonably close) graphics settings in newer games.  

 

RE7 I believe being a good recent example.  It can use more than 4GB at higher settings.  About 4.5-5.5GB I think.  

 

 

Sorry if I seem harsh.  A cheaper Vega card would be very nice if that's what you're hoping for.  I just mesn to say that I think 6GB would be a more suitable minimum at this point.   

Vega uses its memory more efficiently than older cards, what happens is that applications most of the time over estimate how much memory they need by a lot, what vega is doing is only allocating the memory that it really needs, so 4gb should be more than enough
