What do you think about this setup

Dell t5500 Intel xeon x5670 2.93GHZ 16go ram ddr3 500go Gtx 1050ti 4go for 550$

I can get an Intel Xeon E5640 instead, and a GTX 1060 3GB for the same price. What do you think? Also I think that 8gig of ram is enough, so I might just take this deal with 8 gig of ram for about 500$

The Xeon E5640 is still very old (from 2010) look for more recent i5's such as the 6400, 6500,6600,6600k,7400, 7500,7600 and 7600K. Also if you want a GTX 1060 get the 6GB version.

Those Xeon comes with the Dell T5500 and I can't get GTX 1060 6Gb since my budget doesnt allow it ( 600$ ). I'm thining of getting an RX 480 4GB instead

Go with the x5670 rig. the e5640 has worse single core performance then most i5s (I think its actually worse then the 2500k.)

If he is buying used Xeons will be better at that price. And the GTX 1060 3GB is only a little bit slower (1-2 FPS in most games.)

Don't get the Dell T5500 then, just build your own.

Older Dell systems are a pain to upgrade, and some of their motherboards don't even match the standard (mATX, ATX)...

 

Just build it yourself, will probably cost you less too.

Considering that the rx480 is cheaper then the GTX 1060 I would say it is better.

Then you don't even need a 1060 3GB... Go with an RX 470 or GTX 1050 Ti, 

The 1060 3GB is the "sweetspot 1080p card, so since you're below that resolution you really don't need it.

For $550 you can get so much more.

I myself am from a country where it is quite expensive to build a system, but it still beats this.

I would go for the Z400. I've actually upgraded that system with a GTX 960 before so I can confirm that it will work well.

So the Z400 would be the better choice here. What do you suggest me as a graphics card? I'm thinking about the GTX 1050 Ti and the RX 480/470 and the GTX 1060 3gb since these are the only ones that I can afford.

The xfx RX 480 has the same problem that most AMD chips have: It's really hot. 

That Asus card is a steal tho... I usually don't buy through B&H but I might now...

Again, since you're not running at 1920x1080 I'd go for a cheaper card. 

ALSO, according to HP, since you are using the HP z400 system, you will need a card that supports a legacy BIOS. UEFI is not supported on the Z400 motherboard. So you might actually be better off going for an older, higher end card like a GTX 770. 

What confuses me though is I have seen people running gtx 1050ti cards in a Z400 and it worked...

I might upgrade for 1080p monitor later. So I'm thinking of either going the 1050Ti or RX480 which work fine on both systems Z400 and T5500 tested by them. I can even go to test it myself since it's close to me

I'd go for the most powerful card that fits your budget then.

1050Ti < 1060 3gb OR RX 480 4gb < 1060 6GB OR RX 480 8GB

Least to most powerful.
