LTT Fan Meetup #2 Carpooling (offer/request)

Ok guys so as we know there is going to be another LTT fan meetup this summer as was announced on the last WAN show. First off I don't know if there is a discussion already going (please let me know if there is).

 

Real first off @LinusTech @Slick @nicklmg and whoever else is relevant PLEASE, PLEASE let us know dates ASAP as I don't have a car to drive there with (anybody want to carpool? Are you passing through/near Missoula Montana) and the cheapest airline tickets I can get are about $350US, but if I needed to order say just 3 weeks out it would be about $550 and I likely couldn't make it.

 

 

 

So unless I get told by a mod that I shouldn't do this or that it is already being done I am going to start this as a carpool offer/request place so the way I am going to do this is;

 

I WILL BE DOING THIS FOR US/CANADA ONLY!!

 

If you want to join a carpool please;

1) Mention your current city (don't put your exact address, but suburb would be appreciated if you are in a large city)

2) Put how much you would be willing to offer to help with fuel-etc. (if you can't/won't offer money please put $0) also please mention your currency USD/CAD

3) If you are bringing a system (as this is supposedly going to be a LAN party) please mention how much gear you plan on bringing, even just a guess.

4) How far (if at all) you are willing to travel to get to somebody who is carpooling (like if you can drive to the next city over to meet somebody)

4) HAVE A VALID PASSPORT IF NEEDED!! Nobody wants to get stuck at the border crossing because one of the carpoolers can't cross

5) I can assist connecting people BUT you are in charge of setting a meeting location/time and being ready on time

 

If you are driving and would be willing to bring others please;

1) Don't overpack cars, make sure you can comfortably sit everybody and their gear

2) Please don't offer if your car might break down one or more times on the drive. (it doesn't help people if they just get stranded in Kansas)

3) Please mention an outline of the path. Nothing to detailed needed, but just a summery like "I am starting off in Seattle WA and will be taking Interstate 5 up to the Blaine border crossing, then will take BC-99 into Vancouver"

4) Please mention (at a rough guess) how far off the path you would be willing to go to pick somebody up (say 0M/0KM if you are unwilling)

5) Please mention the max people you would be willing/able to take (remember this will likely be a LAN party so it will be people+gear+luggage)

I have a lot going on over the next few weeks and won't be able to keep up with this /too much/ but the event is not until summer and we don't even know the dates yet so no rush.

 

Also if @LinusTech @Slick @nicklmg or anybody else has an issue with this concept just let me know. I want to help, not cause issues.

Cheapest is $99 one way, plus $75 return

Which is reasonable.

That is not an invalid point, but if it is a LAN party as it has been hinted at I would have a hard time taking my normal luggage plus my system on a bus, not to mention that a road trip with other LTT fans/computer enthusiasts would be fun.

You can bring lots of luggage on the Greyhound. I brought a bicycle boxed up from Kelowna to Vancouver.
