RX 480 VS RX 580

Apache Protocol

So they MIGHT be on the same chip and just be more faster?

I purchase my RX 480 cause i plan on moving to a 1440p over 1080p and i see that FreeSync will be cheaper in my Country. Yes i only Plan on playing CS:GO and some games on the side.

Is it worth buying the new 580 over the 480?.

There's always something better on the horizon. If there's hardware out there now that will meet your needs at a price you're comfortable with, just grab it and be happy. The idea of waiting to "future proof" yourself is a fool's errand.

It's not called the RX580. It's called VEGA.

oh no i'm not future proof its just that for my i will stick on my 480 till it will die i think. cause my friend just build his 1st rig but he left out the gpu for now and i got my 480 almost 60days now and i really dont think i need more but when he saw a rumors that a refresh will be releasing im asking for the community to give a fact about this. i purhcase my card really cheap and it is the ASUS Strix 8GB OC for around $200 and this was really really a good deal but thinking that something might come out with a new one like skylake to kabylake for him its really unknown territory.

oh yes i might be going future topic here but RX Vega is different Chip there are leaks that AMD will Refresh the 460 470 480 to the RX 500 with a slight boost. but still on a same chip and rumors say that they will release a RX550 but still not confirm even the RX 560,570,580 but the RX Vega is the confirm GPU will be using the Vega Chip.

Okay, I know this is bullshit cause 1: Amd hasn't come out about any of this

2: Amd is using HBM2 not GDDR5

3: We wouldn't know EVERY detail like that.

You're mistaken, there will be RX 570 and 580 to compete with the GTX 1060/1070 respectively, while VEGA will target the 1080/1080ti.

my reference 480 is currently clocked at 1420, which is higher than the 1070. this is just one of AMDs rebrands, as always

Comparing clock speeds on AMD cards to NVIDIA cards is like comparing apples to frogs. It's not a valid comparison in any way, shape or form.

The rebrand was mentioned a lot of times by other reviewers as well. I myself hold on to that but in the end I bought the 480 a few days back.
