60hz IPS vs 144hz freesync?

2SPOOKY4ME

Planning to get a new monitor for another build and leaving the old one for the old build

https://www.amazon.com/LG-Electronics-23MP57HQ-P-23-Inch-LED-Lit/dp/B00TCVAC0Q/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1490316089&sr=8-2&keywords=LG+23

Was planning to get either

https://www.amazon.com/Acer-XF240H-bmjdpr-24-inch-FreeSync/dp/B01DHTWZRQ/ref=sr_1_2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1490315725&sr=1-2&keywords=144hz%2Bfreesync&th=1

or

https://www.amazon.com/AOC-G2460PF-24-Inch-Gaming-Monitor/dp/B01BV1XBEI/ref=sr_1_3?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1490315725&sr=1-3&keywords=144hz+freesync

The question is, is it worth getting a 144hz freesync monitor or just get a 60hz freesync monitor? Not really planning a huge upgrade but I need a new monitor for the new build.

And is the image quality from an IPS panel a huge difference from a TN Panel specifically these monitors? The last monitor I had was a TFT LCD so I can't really tell. Thanks!

There isnt a massive difference between IPS and TN, don't be fooled, infact there's a review on Youtube of the Asus PG278Q vs PG279Q (TN vs IPS basically) and the reviewer notes very little difference. The only time IPS is of concern is when using a professional grade monitor for photo and video work, which is obviously dedicated for that purpose.

As for your question, what GPU are you putting in the build?

Gonna take a look at the video to help with my decision. Putting an rx 480 in it, i have a 970 on RMA right which I'm gonna put on the old build. I'm just really skeptical about the image quality of IPS vs TN and I have tried 144hz before it was amazing hands down.

It really depends on the panels in question; the PG278Q uses about the best TN panel you can expect to find, and it is quite good looking, however lower end TN panels like the ones used on the monitors in the OP's post are noticeably worse than a decent IPS monitor.

I agree and did state about good IPS monitors, however, it's also a budget IPS

I was watching this video and says that the reason why the TN have well "accurate" colors because it's an 8-bit rather than the standard 6-bit for TN panels. The two monitors I posted are both 8-bit. But then again, I'm not really knowledgeable with panels and everything else related to it.

does depend if you gaming, My benny has been amazing for games like CS:GO and such but for watching movies or even some of the more single player I really didn't like it. Colors just looked a bit washed out and the shadows and such were not enjoyable.

I'm going to a 27" curved and don't think I'll be getting 144Hz just not playing enough competitive games that benefit so just going 60hz like a filthy casual

Very good TNs are almost as good as IPS, but cheap TN is nowhere near cheap IPS,

Both those TN panels are 8 bit panels, they will be a match for a cheap IPS, I agree a cheap 6 bit TN will have washed out colours in comparison
