Let's dock iOS devices!

I just can't see a use for iOS on a full size keyboard and 13" or w/e display....

 

The OS is designed as a mobile operating in which the user has very little control for their own ease of use, why transfer that into a laptop environment, without introducing such an OS.

I remember reading a post few months ago, from someone (maybe from here?) saying something like "why not create laptop that instead of touchpad has cutout for phone, that could be docked it to use desktop UI?".

I'm sure Apple won't put touchscreen on their laptops, cause you know, that wouldn't make much sense in their own words. I guess they don't use a laptop that often, just sayn'.

This concept has been around for years....and it was definitely not Apple's idea.

I got that dock for free from the Lumia gift app or something. I preordered the phone from Amazon btw. That thing is going for around £30 or less now

Using an iPhone as a trackpad isn't too bad. I use mine with Windows Server all the time. I'm more efficient with that then with a real trackpad (but I hate trackpads with a passion).

This makes sense for the macbooks as they basically have the same guts as an iPhone. But for things like the macbook pro this is stupid

shudder...  not too bad, i am really picky about my trackpads. i hate touchscreens on laptops, personal preference so, i would love to keep the two worlds separate.

Exactly, before college I didn't even care enough to argue with someone about it but then in school the people with Mac's/iPhones pretty much went out of their way to let everyone know that they had one and that it was more expensive therefore better. Four years of this pretty much conditioned me to despise Apple instead of just not preferring it.

Have to admit that while the concept is impractical and Apple will probably hold off on anything for several years or use it as a patent troll, you probably have the pricing scheme correct...  Just remember, you're not just buying the hardware, you are purchasing into an 'ecosystem'. :P
