ME Andromeda makes the whole pc crash...

Qyoon
Go to solution Solved by Qyoon,

Changed for a 1080 FTW , no more issue , 980Ti was on his way to die , as simple as that.

Hello

I am having an issue with ME Andromeda..

Was playing the game during EA acces with some minor crashes...

Now the game is released i am experiencing many different crashes.

Direct X crash , so i turned off all gpu overclocking.

Game continue to crash , now just closing without a window or anything just closing.

The worst crashes are when the pc just black screen , shut down and restart...

Thinking about cpu overclocking failure... but why only on MEA since the pc can handle stress test and massive encoding without any issue ?

I am pretty disapointed atm...

Some games will crash with an overclock where others will not. When testing your overclock you may find that you have to disable it for certain programs / games to function.

Also have you installed the latest NVIDIA drivers? Have you removed all drivers and started from scratch?

tried with older and newer driver.

If this particular game don't work with oc i will just ask to a refund.

Right click the game in origin and select repair and see if that sorts it out.

If it only crashes with the OC, then your OC isn't stable enough. Dial it back a bit.

If it's not the OC, try running DDU to completely wipe the driver, then reinstall the latest driver and try again.

Also try validating the game files like @leelaa14 mentioned.

it happend whith and without gpu oc , running this oc since 1 year now and didn't had that kind of issue with any other games so i doubt it's the oc.

I tried to repair the game , played for like 20 min then it crashed again , so still not solved.

Atm i just deleted, cleaned the cache , reboot and redownloading the full game will see if it helps.

And i won't try without my cpu oc since it passed all stress test and any other application i use.

i prefer get a refund than having to change my bios setting evertime i wanna play.

will be fixed soon

The way the PC shuts down feels more like CPU or PSU issues to me tho

Thought about it , but why the pc would shut down during MEA and not during a stress test with Aida 64 and Heaven at the same time ?

The PSU is a very good one btw ( Bequiet Dark Power Pro 10 550W 80+ Gold).

I will try tomorrow with a Corsair HX850 i have somewhere.but i doubt it's a psu problem.

i also have a computer with an I5 4690K oc to 4,5Ghz , 16Gb ram btw... but i don't have the motivation atm to open both case ans swap the cards to check... Already resolving client computer issue all day , and having to do it at home after work is boring >.>.

Do you have corsair cue software running for anything. I read somewhere that right now they don't play well together.

I refuse to read threads whose author does not know how to remove the caps lock!

Maybe try setting the game to a higher priority in task manager?

See what background programs and apps you have running. Could be a conflict with one of them, maybe.

I haven't had any issue with CUE and this game but that's just me maybe.

I've only had 2 CTD (with no error msg) in the 34 hour's I've played this game but I'm not sure what caused them,  I've looked in the event viewer and I can't even find an event related (no event at all around the time of the crash) so I'm pretty stumped.

Couldn't find my corsair HX850 so i grabbed the best psu i could, find on materiel.net.

Seasonic Prime Ti 750, very good review , good looking, moar powa. Tried and still crashing, so now i can say for sure my psu has no issue.

Funny fact is when i opened the other pc, the cosair psu was inside...maybe thats why i couldn't find it in the hardware closet...

Good thing of the day is, my pc is even more overkill , maybe i should grab a 1080Ti. xD

I'm having the same issue with an overclocked 980ti. I tried running the game without the overclock and it still crashes. I'm running a Corsair AX1200 and the power supply's stability has never been a problem in any other game.

The game isn't enjoyable enough for me to try and figure out a workaround, so I guess I'll just shelve it and consider it a write off.

Well, there is one thing that is running in addition to the game that you'd otherwise not have on.  The Origin DRM is also chugging away whenever you play ME:A.  Just another thing to consider while ya diagnose the issue.

I think i stupidly solved the problem

Well at least the game worked like 4-5 hours without any crash.

Instead of removing GPU overclocking i reduced my frequency a bit and raised my gpu voltage (+43mv) and power/temp limit with result in higher boost ( 1400Mhz to 1425Mhz ).

Since then i had "no" issue, will be able to confirm maybe tomorrow or the day after.

Not the game fault, the problem started to appear on other games.

After hours and hours of investigation and testing i think the graphic card is slowly dying.

Basicly it can't handle high loads correctly anymore.
