One my friends at school told me that running the tree command in windows will boost performance of my computer.

I've tried doing research, but I'm still very confused.

What does the "Tree" command do. I ran it in Run (Win + R)

Currently using windows 10

Your mate is full of shit, I'm pretty sure all it does is show the files in your PC.In a tree format. I think its called the directory or something.

It just shows the contents of your file as branches, so if you have a directory in a directory it would show it as a subdirectory/subbranch.

The Tree command looks as if it's some Matrix type of thing, and it really tricks people. I'm a staff member of a scambaiting community and scammers really like tricking users with Tree as a substitute for an antivirus.

Total garbage....

It's also the command scammers use to make you think you've got spyware and malware on your computer.

tell him that didn't work. but this did, shutdown /p /f   .The /p stands for programs not in use and are safe to close and /f stands for force close programs that are hung or idle. this will clear up some memory and speedup your computer. AAANNNNND obviously im lying. that cmd shuts down your pc. but just to mess with your tree friend, do it!
