Sshd vs ssd/hdd for value

NSDUO

So I am looking to build my first pc. For storage, I want a ssd. So a 120 gb ssd is $50 and a 1 tb hdd is $50. But, a seagate firecuda is $80. It is a tb hdd and 8gb of storage for my os. All I care about the ssd for is the os for fast boot and loading times. Really the only essential programs I need are my web browser and iTunes which will definitely fit on there with windows 10. If I go with the firecuda, then I use one less drive bay, sata connector, and sata power. If you were in my position, would you go for the 120gb ssd and hdd combo for $100, 1tb hdd and 8gb ssd for $80, or 2tb hdd and 8gb ssd for $100? Remember, I don't care about storing anything on the ssd besides windows. And I don't mind putting my web browser and iTunes on the hdd they are light and load fast anyway.

That's not how SSHDs work. The 8GB of solid state storage is used as a sort of cache for the rest of the drive, and it not available to the user separately.

Main System: Phobos

AMD Ryzen 7 2700 (8C/16T), ASRock B450 Steel Legend, 16GB G.SKILL Aegis DDR4 3000MHz, AMD Radeon RX 570 4GB (XFX), 960GB Crucial M500, 2TB Seagate BarraCuda, Windows 10 Pro for Workstations/macOS Catalina

Secondary System: York

Intel Core i7-2600 (4C/8T), ASUS P8Z68-V/GEN3, 16GB GEIL Enhance Corsa DDR3 1600MHz, Zotac GeForce GTX 550 Ti 1GB, 240GB ADATA Ultimate SU650, Windows 10 Pro for Workstations

Older File Server: Yet to be named

Intel Pentium 4 HT (1C/2T), Intel D865GBF, 3GB DDR 400MHz, ATI Radeon HD 4650 1GB (HIS), 80GB WD Caviar, 320GB Hitachi Deskstar, Windows XP Pro SP3, Windows Server 2003 R2

SSHD are not bad

120GB SSDs are a waste of money

Nope. They are more of a cache. Get a nice SSD paired with a mechanical HDD, such as the Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB for $50.

120 is $50. Cheapest 250 I've seen is $100 so it's around the same storage per dollar

Check deals on Amazon. I snagged a Kingston SSDNow 300V 240GB Upgrade Kit (comes with the cloning software, cables, 3.5" adapter) for $40 brand new.

Don't waste money on an SSD just for boot, the real benefit comes from having programs and files on it.

Agreed. I put my OS and main programs on the SSD and everything else on the HDD.

All I would use the ssd for is for boot. I don't really know what I need to open really fast. All I use is edge, iTunes, word, excel, PowerPoint, and maybe a few other small programs. And then games but they go on the hdd because they are too big.
