best:

Windows 10

because of the multiple desktops and nice and fluent UI

Worst:

Windows 8

because it was ment for shit with touchscreens and even then it was a pice of garbage

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

Spoiler

Windows 98 Second Edition

Great backwards compatibility. You pretty much get DOS and Windows in one. You can even launch it in DOS-only mode. Also: it will run on a potato.

Pretty much the best thing for retro game enthusiasts like me.

I swear I'd still use it if it had a 64 bit release, support for multi-core CPU's and hyperthreading and if modern software was still compatible with it.

The worst: Windows 10. The spying is real.

I have Had only a hand full of problems with Windows 10 on more than five computers. I could go on for a long time about all the issues I have had with windows 7. But despite that, windows 8/8.1 is a terrible OS that has lead me to look up how to do even the most basic tasks (such as how to find the gosh darn file explorer).

It doesn't work that way. The older operating systems aren't aware of the newer ones.

I think the best Windows ever released was Windows 10.  It might have horrible privacy invading features.  But it's automatic updates, and virus protection, and it's integration into the Microsoft ecosystem I think makes it a fantastic operating system for the future.  Any bug or issue in Windows can be fixed and a patch can be issued to everyone automatically and efficiently using the system in place.  I think the ability to share updates over the internet is a fantastic feature too, because it gives you updates faster, and wouldn't make a huge impact on your network speed.

The reality shown in the book 1984 by George Orwell at one point or another is going to become at least similar to reality.  Because of the way technology is moving, and the way the government handles it's security.  So while I'm still a Linux fan because I love the openness, and the ability to create and develop whatever I want.  But I believe Microsoft is making a move for the future, where everything is shared and integrated in a system.
