Long, long time since I did anything like this... But this article may help:

http://www.doddlenews.com/equipment/after-effects-harnesses-your-network-as-a-render-farm/

A few years old, but should be still good. Basically set up the additional PC with After Effects and Network Rendering Engine, set up the Server as a node on your PC, and it should automatically render anything dumped into a set network share.

Please, someone correct me if I'm wrong!!!

As far as I'm aware, it hasn't changed much, but I'm in much the same boat.

getting the server and the software going is one thing

auto rendering can be done but incompatibility might happen

judging from the link it looks like an older version of after effects

it looks to be 2016, the latest version you can get now is 2017

adobe did a lot of fine tuning under the hood and some reworking (as they do with every major revision) and some plugins have been known to not work (even ones from adobe of all people!)

you can try, i would recommend for you to and try to get it to work, but if it doesn't maybe look into other solutions

****SORRY FOR MY ENGLISH IT'S REALLY TERRIBLE*****

Been married to my wife for 3 years now! Yay!

They used it for a bit, but never fully migrated to it since they found a better workflow utilizing Cineform and media encoder.
