Problem with my new samsung 960 evo 500gb ssd

JayK4lls

So I'm having a problem trying to use my ssd.

When I go to disc management it says 0 disc unknown cannot initiate ssd and when I try to initiate the drive it says incorrect function.

I have downloaded the new samsung drivers and installed it on my ssd and it didn't work as well.

My laptop is the lenovo y700.

Right now I'm resetting my laptop so I cannot show screen shots.

What am I doing wrong?

Are you upgrading or is this just the SSD that came with the system?

You can't use PCIe/NVME ssds in a sata M.2 port.

Enderman, I edited my above post because apparently, if it's the factory SSD and he's replacing it with a 960 (Intel Proc + Nvidia GPU with SSD) it has NVME enabled.  If he's adding one, that's a different story.

The the M.2 port is SATA only.  The 960 will not work.  Return it and get an 850 pro.

Dam -o- I got it so cheap too since there was a 20% off sale.

Thank for your help. I will order an 850 pro.

After further reading apparently the 960 evo works on the y700 series
