I'm trying to come up with some sort of project. I'd like to make something with some sort of practical purpose and am interested in maybe learning to code if necessary. The Raspberry Pi is interesting to me but I really need to keep costs down. I don't have much practical skill and no access to soldering equipment.

 

Any ideas would be welcome

You could also pick up a hobby. If you got money and alot of time, why not learn to DJ? Its actually really complicated and there is alot to it.

 

A good starter setup is

Numark Mixtrack Pro 3 - 250 USD

VirtualDJ Content Unlimited Music Subscritption - 10/mo USD

And of course a good computer to run it.

do something like the Toaster Project, get a small old HTPC and make it into a gameing machine and make all the I/O stuff at the front do stuff, thats the plan with the LAN PC currently atleast :P 

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

If you dont have any practical skills, try picking up some new skills. Get a cheap soldering iron and a electronics kit to start.
