Better ethernet cable than cat 5e?

Well I thought cat 5e was the best out there... I was wrong. Theres such things as cat6 and cat 7 i think even a cat8. Which one of these is the fastest. And which one should I get, or are there things such as cat 9?

Depends on your work load whether you need a cat6,7,8... or not

id run cat 6 for gig, 6a for 10gig and fiber for anything faster

Well im moving tons of files and I want them to be quick, I was thinking of a cat6a, or a cat7, maybe a cat7a

Depends on what length you want, it wouldn't make a huge price gap if your cable is not going to be really long.

Do you plan to get a 10Gb card? 

Is your router support 10Gb? 

 

If your answer to any is no, stick with cat5e.

Pretty sure your router/switchbox also needs 5gb, or 10gb to work, not just the cable

 

Cat6 is the most reasonable for the money

I use my motherboards ethernet, is that bad? If so what should i get for ethernet adapter, im looking to buy a cat 7 1.5 ft ethernet cable

Also, in most cases, a cat5 can do 1Gb, even though it isn't "supported". 

The only major downfall is that it may not be the max efficiency it could possibly be running at, or it may slightly suffer from interference with extended length, but at that distance, it's really not a concern. It also isn't "officially supported", if you like that sort of thing, that is.

 well that's probably gigabit if it's modern so all you need is cat6

Also, unless you have RAID 0 with 3 SATA 3 SSDs (Accounting for loss) or a M.2/PCI-e SSD, at that point you still don't get any benefit from 10Gb Ethernet as you are then bottlenecked by your storage. So, you're probably looking at $600-700 dollars for a budget upgrade. There's also no reason to really get 10Gb as 1Gb is more than enough. Oh well then I guess i aint upgrading. Im saving up for a upgrade of mobo, ram and cpu

To be rather blunt, if you have to ask all these questions, you probably do not need 10 gigabit, or even 5 gigabit, though 5 gigabit isn't nearly as expensive

instead of spending a bunch of money on just a network card, you could upgrade to a Ryzen R7 1700, which won't get you per core performance, but will double your cores/threads

 

and the Fatal1ty Professional Gaming has a 1 gigabit port, and a 5 gigabit port, though your router/switch needs to support 5 gigabit.

I feel sorry for those EEs who design motherboards. Unless they lover their jobs, it'd be horrible. Just doing hobby projects with 50-200 components is a royal pain in the arse.
