To also give you some credit, LTT isn't the only channel guilty of this clickbait shit. Kyle/Bitwit or whatever the fuck his flavor of the month name is now, MKBHDbrand and so on will often edit their thumbnails to show a product that isn't released yet or is only rumored to be coming soon™ and they put it IN THEIR HAND IN THE THUMBNAIL. I haven't seen anyone bitching about that.

This is an LTT forum. It would be rather pointless to comment on a Bitwit clickbait title here. The LTT videos (for obvious reasons) are promoted in these forums. Of course they will have more feedback than other Youtuber's videos here.

But that title is super misleading. I'm not some tech insider. I actually thought they got some sneak preview courtesy of AMD. I mean, they did get sponsorships for CES for the 480 and Ryzen launch. All you buttholes expecting everybody complaining to internally monologue the likelyhood of Linus getting an early sample are inconsiderate and kinda narcissistic. They titled the video as if they tested Ryzen 3 and 5. They didn't. 

 

Don't intentionally mislead your viewers, Linus.

I think they still do somewhat, not like in days past they they are a pretty good source for noobs that want to learn more about computers. After all, the entertainment value relative to other tech Youtubers is very high, so much more likely to keep a prospective PC builder hooked until they learn more about what they were doing. That is why I was strongly opposed to the original title of the video. It is misleading for noobs.

Again, probably because of the gradual tonal shift from hat-on-backwards-informal-unboxings to online media psuedo-mogul who is "overworked" but at the same time doesn't take themselves too "seriously".

The view count on the 1000 degree knife videos of months past would speak otherwise against your clickbait thumbnail argument. The thumbnail was completely unrelated to the video, but honestly what am I supposed to expect? Endless pictures of test benches?

But this is part of the problem. They're tailoring their content to what gets the most hits first, rather than worrying about having good content first and marketing it (a close) second.

 

The point being, if they have a good product and good marketing, they shouldn't need to stoop to lame social engineering tricks to get viewers. You don't have to look further than other tech channels to see that it's possible to make a profit and grow without these tired antics.
