Which iPhone to buy used right now?

I'm looking into buying a an iPhone, but since I've been an Android fanboy the past few years I really don't know which one would be good value on the used market right now... I've heard from a friend that the support for iPhones only lasts so long and if Apple decides to cease updating your type of device you're screwed, since apps won't work and so on.

 

Any recommendations which one to get for a moderate price?

If you really are sure you want an iPhone, look into the iPhone 6. The 5 series will be dropped before it, so you'll get longer out of it.

I wouldn't go below a 6s used. There have been cases where older iphones that updated to ios 10 just got completely bricked.

Yeah iPhones do generally last longer than an android phone as android phones tend to drop support or in my cases build quality degradation over time. (Plastics tho)

iPhone 5 SE is stil viable if you get it first hand but generally an iPhone 6 2nd hand is better.

Really? I hadn't heard. I use iOS 10.3 beta 7 on my 6 with no issue.

The SE is great, but the size is difficult to adjust to, especially as most Android devices are larger.

"Moderately priced" isn't really helpful. It helps to give an actual number for people to go off of.

That said, I'd go 6S as others have said. Or wait a couple months and get the 7 when everyone upgrades to whatever comes out next.

I want good value. If the price is still high thats not a problem, because if I don't like it I can just sell it on I guess.

I mainly wanted to see if IOS suits my needs before I get a new iPhone off my carriers.

Buying the SE kind of was my plan, because I actually like the smaller size. I just wondered if the 5s is still viable...

You could get a used 5S, but they will lose support a whole lot sooner than the SE (which is somewhat based on the 6S).

The SE is basically an iPhone 6, but fit into iPhone 5 form factor, so i guess that would be what you are looking for.

It wasn't every 6, it effected those made within a specific time frame. I work for a major US carrier and had some complaints of bricked phones after the updates.

 

Just saying if you don't already have an iphone, I wouldn't risk it.
