Ubuntu 16.04 using virtualbox

Hi, I have a problem with using ubuntu 16.04 and virtualbox running windows 10, I have installed the guest editions too. But the problem is I can't access my clipboard in either direction, no matter what setting I select... and also a more annoying problem is that I can't access ANY USB drives. I have tried (without success) to seelct USB drives before entering the VM, but nothing shows up no matter which USB version is selected. The drives themselves show up in ubuntu fine. I have tried looking for solutions to this problem, but maybe because I am not very well versed in the intricacies of linux I can't find a solution to either of these problems. Both virtualbox and the guest editions are the latest versions. Can anyone help me with this please?

 

I have got a workaround to my problem for now, but it's convoluted and not feasible for long term usage, so hope someone can help, thanks :)
