CPU Upgrade = No signal....

lolxd

So I just today recived my new PSU (Thermaltake-TR2-S).

And I put my PC togheter with an Athalon 64 x2 400+ and my Amd Readon HD5450.

The reason I used the Athalon 64 was so i could upgrade the BIOS so I ckuld run my Phenom II X4 905e.

And the BIOS update works fine and the system powers up normally again.

So I power it off and put in my Phenom II X4 and my GTX 550TI.

And when I try booting it back all of the fans spin up but no signal so I thought its was the GPU so

I switched back to my HD5450 and still no signal when I power it on.

When I power it on all the fans spins and it dosen't shut down.

I have tried:

Changing GPUS

Unplugging and replugging all of the cables.

Changing DVI cable and monitor.

Also the PCI-e cable is connected.

Edit: The PSU is 600w and the mobo supports the CPU.

What motherboard are you using?

Definitely sounds like a cpu issue if even changing back to the old gpu gives no signal.

Just to double check, you're plugging the dvi into the graphics card and not the motherboard?

Also, just curious, why did you go for a 550ti?

Got it cheap.

Sounds like similar issue I ran into with my 4790K, updated my bios to the supported version and when the new cpu was installed I'd get no video signal.  with lots of googling I found out that other people got their cpu's to boot with 1 specific way to update the bios (out of the 3 available methods) the other 2 would always fail to boot.  Sure enough when I used the 1 specific method my CPU booted as normal.  Not sure if your running into the same issue but it's something to look into.

And you're definitely connecting the dvi cable to the graphics cards port?

is the cpu oriented in the socket correctly? ( check the arrow ).

are you sure the new cpu was good?

what happens if you pull the graphics card and connect to the on board graphics?

does that cpu support the ram that's on the board?

did you try assembly and running outside the case? ( breadboard )

The new CPU was pulled out from my dads old PC wich the PSU crashed on.

CPU should support the RAM.

I havent tried pulling the GPU out but ill try it.

No i havent assembeld it out of the case since I have EDS monsters (Cats and dogs).

Yes I know I'm gonna replace the CPU with the old one and build a new PC for my parents instead.
