Shame. I used to find them all interesting.

WD-40 not a proper lubricant so yes an actual lubricant would do a better a job lubricating the blade. WD-40 is a water displacer (hence 'WD'), it can act as a pseudo lubricant for things like hinges, doors, etc.

I admit that I cannot always tell when they a purposefully doing things wrong. So hopefully using WD-40 instead of the lubricant they appeared to already have was for content purposes.

FYI for future when cutting metals try and use a cutting specific lubricant when possible

I'm sure there's hundreds of other comments about it

but WD-40 is not really a lubricant

Using WD-40 as a cutting or drilling lubricant is excessively stupid, especially if you're using tools that generate significant amounts of heat (reciprocating saws, high speed drills) on the bit/blade, as WD-40 is flammable.

Yes, basic lubrication is one of the intended purposes for WD-40, but that's stuff along the lines of lubricating a moderately rusty bolt, lubricating a door hinge.

They didn't do it for content purposes. Few people actually realize what kind of lubricant uses are actually intended of WD-40, and the bog standard hardware store doesn't always sell more specialized lubricants.

You think they'd be more safety conscious concerning fire hazards considering their new fire hazard server room....

Couldn't say that about me. I've used WD-40 and a wand lighter as an impromptu weed burner, and to kill wasps.

Do you have a room in your house that essentially uses exposed 8 inch thick sheets of shredded denim as insulation?

That would actually be an improvement for fire safety over my garage.
