If it's a library in a Catholic/Christian community, it should obviously be in Non-fiction.

If you find it in Fiction, then I don't know why the blazes it's there unless the Librarian isn't a Catholic.

The Bible is a historical, poetic, and religious book (and maybe even more!). If you think of it, it's composed on 66 single books or letters -- all of which are a different type of literature.

In the case the questioner is seriously interested:

in our library there is no bible.

There are a few books about different religions (Christianity, Buddhism, Islam, Judaism,.... spelling in English???) to explain the religion (rather small ones) and some about the day-to-day life in countries/cultural regions with a main religion (as in at least 90% I guess)... but no koran... either.

It should be put in a culture / religious section. (Coming from an Atheist btw)

My local library does that.

My library doesn't have a religious section, it gets put in the non-fiction. >_>

My library doesn't have a religious section

That's just sad.  Religion is a reality in this world, whether one believes, agree with it or not.  Then again, ignorance is bliss.

Many of the history books should be put in fiction section.

We have in our (German) library 'Lies My Teacher Told Me: Everything Your American History Textbook Got Wrong' (in English) = many examples in that book confirm your post. Lots of universities seem to change knowingly their teach material to adjust history to their political, religios,... ideals. Strange way to handle something 'inconvenient'.

If something like that qould happen here and someone would lear about that => big problems for the ppl involved.
