Best CPU for gaming???

I'm currently working on upgrading my PC I'm trying to figure out what CPU to get.. I've got my eyes on the I-7 7700K

I mainly play games like ARMA3, star citizen, H1Z1

If you are at 1080p then the 7700k is probably the best you can get right now. Arguably though the 7600k is nearly overkill for gaming though at a cheaper price. I prefer the hyperthreaded cores because it gives you just a wee bit of more leeway if you are running things in the background.

Once you step up to 1440 and especially 4k the processor is a wee bit less important so you can stack more cores at a slightly slower speed with out giving up performance in most games. In those cases a 6 core intel will do just fine and once Ryzen is properly optimized for you will see similar results.

i7-7700k with a Corsair H115 AIO Cooler

The H115 is junk. All the AIO's are. I can not believe how many people have been sold into that marketing hoopla.

OP - i7-7700k for 1080p gaming.

I7-7700k@5.1ghz + 1080ti @ 2050mhz + 32gbs Ram + 2TB SSD = CSGO

i7-6700k@4.9ghz + 980ti @ 1501mhz + 16gbs Ram + 1 TB SSD = Backup

i7-3770k@4.8ghz + 680 4gb + 32gbs Ram + 500gb SSD = Retired/Office work

6700k, will also hold for a few years and is more than enough

In all the comparisons and gaming benchmarks I've seen, the 6700K and 7700K are achieving virtually identical frames in various configurations and games.
