"Sickest" G710+ keyboard paint mod

Guest

Sick - feeling nauseous and wanting to vomit. (google)

Don't confuse with Slick

Sorry for crappy picture. Samsung S5 Neo does not live up to expectation.

So this is essentially what I went with after asking advice at the local Canadian Tire store and LTT forum. I got the blue one instead

Link for reference: http://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/krylon-colormaster-white-primer-0481521p.html#srp

The first part was removing stuff, which was fairly easy, kind off

I removed all the keycaps, easiest job ever in my life

Then I unscrewed the back of the keyboard (no picture because everybody knows how to do that)

So that I can begin to remove the frame. Note the red circle, that's where the volume connectors are connected, plugging out should be really simple.

Spoiler

Here is the frame itself alone

Spoiler

20170316_084927.jpg

The next part was quite tricky. I have to remove the orange part (easy) and the black part (which took way too long). Here they are seperated

So with everything removed it is time to paint!

I was greeted with a warm sunny day outside...

Except for wind (here is a decent picture)

Spoiler

And here I had to ditch the newspaper because it flies away so quickly and the wind was quite strong. More picture to come since Forum allows up to 20MB only

Here is the progress. Note to myself: should have removed that volume wheel instead of masking it.

Black and green keyboard

Black and blue mouse...

White and pink headset

White and blue PC (build)

Jeezus, my colour coordination is a shitstorm actually :P

In my defence, the G402 is like my favourite mice, the headset was on a 50% off sale (how can you resist a cloud 2 for like 40 quid?), the keyboard was also on a 50% off sale (cherry MX blues for 55 quid with backlighting...how...just how do you resist that?)  and you know why my PC is white and blue

I have the same keyboard and am thinking of painting it Ford Cardinal Red, like my recent PC build in my signature.

Painted before, so I'll probably give it a good sanding, then prime it, then paint it 1 or 2 coats.

Question: How is yours holding up to daily use? Is it chipping? Scuffing? Showing signs of wear?

What paint did you end up using? I'm going with an automotive enamel.

Desktop: KiRaShi-Intel-2022 (i5-12600K, RTX2060) Mobile: OnePlus 5T | Koodo - 75GB Data + Data Rollover for $45/month

Camera: Canon M6 Mark II | Canon Rebel T1i (500D) | Canon SX280 | Panasonic TS20D Music: Spotify Premium (CIRCA '08)

still holding strong for a beginner painter. Did not sand it or anything just did a good dust clean and that's all.

I used primer btw, linked above in op

Righto - I should learn to read more betterererer. Erererer. erer.

You did good for a first paint job - we use similar primer here.
I'll find some time to paint mine when we have a warmer weekend out here and post pics in this thread. :)

Check my profile, I just took a pic of my desk. I might damage the paint on the top right corner near the volume wheel accidentally (can't recall why/how).Everything else is awesome
