overheating LAptop

Ok 

2 days ago i was watching YouTube videos on my LAptop it went hot terribly hot and shut down (thermal shutdown) so i let it cool down for 2 hours and start it up again this time it worked dead slow took 10 mins to boot and the speed is very slow (inoperable) even the pointer is lagging while you scroll on tge screen first i thought the hdd must have been damaged but turned out it wasn't works fine in my friends laptop same thing for the ram too whats possibly wrong???

Defrag and optimise HDD

Clean out dust.
