US Navy's latest Online Wargame to combat Skynet

In the latest iteration of the US Navy's Office of Naval Research's Massive Multiplayer Online Wargame Leveraging the Internet (MMOWGLI), the US Navy is going to fairly much crowd source gamer's ideas on how to combat a greater than human intelligence (singularity) event.  The MMOWGLI first launcher in 2011 to look at ideas ranging from combating piracy to reducing the reliance of the Navy on fossil fuels.  According to Dr. Eric Gulovsen:

Quote

“Technology has advanced to the point that we can see the Singularity on the horizon,” said Dr. Eric Gulovsen, ONR’s director of disruptive technology. “What we can’t see, yet, is what lies over that horizon. That’s where we need help from players. This is a complex, open-ended problem, so we’re looking for people from all walks of life-Navy, non-Navy, technologist, non-technologist- to help us design our Navy for a ‘post-Singularity’ world.”

This year's MMOWGLI project is scheduled to launch on March 27th and go for a week, so how many gamers out there are interested?  Is this a good topic for the Navy to be studying?

Seems interesting, I wonder what the game play is like.

Well I doubt it will have high graphical requirements. Probably look like trash as they need as many people to use it as possible.

I keep thinking a combination of 'The Matrix', 'Wargames', 'Terminator' and 'Dr. Strangelove'.

For those who do not. This movie was pretty good at the time ... today kids would be bored by it.

FYI: Its a text based / message based game. See:

Its essentially a card game that works by combining various cards such as strategy, theory, etc. These decisions then branch out into multiple options. You are essentially trying to play the best outcome.

So yes, it is a (card) game, think along the lines of a RPG, or something like GOPS:  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Goofspiel or even Rummy. Other players can play on your idea cards and build up points.

Its essentially a game theory experiment.

But you want to make a game preparing you for something unknown ?! How the fuck you want to do that :D

The only thing that comes up my mind is updated super realistic Skyrim in VR with like 100 gadgets soldiers can use in a warehouse designed for VR gameplay simulating almost amything.

I seriously hope it wants to do more than that.

But if it's superior to human intelligence, probably not.
