Inspiron vs Inspiron

My current Asus X553MA screen is messed up (and also trash) so I'm looking for a replacement. I'm strongly considering the Dell Inspiron Gaming but am having a tough time deciding between last years and this years models.

These configs are the two I like because both are currently on sale. Which do you guys think is the better value? I do some video editing and this will be my first foray into PC gaming. If the price seems high it may be in Canadian.

looks like a good buy, try to configure one with a 1050ti, you can throw in 16gb ram and an ssd.

The 2017 one has a TI, last years can only have the 960M

Between the two laptops, the new one will probably give you a better gaming experience with it's 1050ti (vs the older 960m which is about equivalent to a 750ti).  But, unfortunately the newer model only seems to come with a very mediocre TN panel, where as the older model actually comes with a decent IPS panel.

So basically the new model has a more powerful GPU, but a terrible screen and it's a bit more expensive, where as the older model has a better screen, lower GPU perfomance, and a lower price (you can get the i7, 1TB model for $800 USD off amazon, not sure what the price is for Canada).

If you want a better screen with a 1050ti, I'd defiantly recommend looking around a bit more.  Maybe check out HP, Lenovo, MSI, or Asus.

Get whatever model you are willing to (7700hq may help with editing) and get a replacement screen off of ebay for $50. It does not void the warranty if you replace the screen as long as the problem doesn't originate from that.

If you buy the previous gen model, get it from Amazon. I own it and if it's your first go in to a gaming scene you really can't go wrong with either. I've heard the new model overheats like crazy under max load, but that could just be more Dell hate. :/

To add, here's the display comparison. The Inspiron 7567 is on the left, and the Inspiron 7559 uses a display like the HP Omen on the right.

I usually only recommend the Inspiron 7567 if you're buying it specifically to upgrade the display.

For a decent display right off the bat, alongside a 1050 / Ti, the Acer Aspire VX5-591G could be an option:

I think the to-go recommendation is the i5 + 1050ti + diy replace the screen for like 50 bucks. Warranty is intact cept for the screen and it's literally best in class then.
