I remember what bug was about, it was about TSX implementation bug discovered in Haswell and Broadwell - Intel had to disable the set in the 1st two generations of Haswell and 1st generation of Broadwell

TSX is also still very janky on Skylake. They've released several microcode updates related to TSX errata, and I still can't tell if they've got it right, lol.

http://www.intel.com/content/dam/www/public/us/en/documents/specification-updates/desktop-6th-gen-core-family-spec-update.pdf

Specific microcode updates that address TSX on Skylake are 0x9d and 0x9e.

My bigger concern is if this is a problem within the architecture itself. If it is then they will have a harder time in the server market with Naples.

Just because Intel prices a CPU at $1000, doesn't automatically make AMD's worth $1000. Where in the world is that logic coming from? lol...

Well if they've cut out ~50% of the hardware to work correctly nooooooot really, they are not.

that's the point i am trying to make, you guys are over expecting from ryzen, it had shitty marketing with fanboy hype train all over it.

in pure performance 1800x or 1700 overclocked matcher 6900k in creative work, it only falls short in gaming because of lack in optimization. in time it should match the 6900k in most ways in terms of performance at least hope but you are missing the point, ryzen is a budget cpu for people who needs lots of core and power, comparing 1700x to ryzen in creative work and laughing at how bad a 7700k is with only 4 core and 8 thread is stupid. for gaming 7700k for creative work, multitasking and light gaming ryzen.

I'm not over-expecting at all. I've repeatedly called Ryzen exactly what it is. A lifting CPU on a budget, that just so happens to game decently. The ONLY thing Ryzen has going for it over Intel, is it's price. That's it. I am not aware of any ground-breaking features that sets it apart from Intel, but I also didn't expect anything more either. My expect expectations were Haswell IPC with more threads, for decent price. They delivered exactly that, so my expectations were met on that front. I also expected the IMC to be worse compared to Intel's, but just not as bad as what we got. Sometimes, I hate being right.

Either way, the way you worded your post, made it sound as if the Ryzen CPU is worth $1000, or is as good as Intel's $1000 offering. To the "worth" argument, I can only say that things are worth exactly what people are willing to pay for them. Worth is subjective after all. As for it being as good as Intel's $1000 offerings, that's simply not true. While it may match them in specific workloads, it cannot match them in every workload. It's certainly not better either. AMD priced the hardware exactly where they needed to in order to even stand a remote chance at being competitive. Had they just released the 1800x for $500, and not released the 1700 or 1700x, then people would still find it a bitter pill to swallow, as you can get cheapo ES Xeons that lift just as hard for less.

The 1700 is the only real chip from Ryzen in my eyes. It clocks the same as the others, it's decent at gaming, and is great for more demanding workloads. The only reason it's good though, is it's price. Let's never forget that.
