GTX 1070 for 4k

Hello all,

Currently I have a Zotac GTX 1070 AMP! Edition and my old 1080 screen. Now I want to upgrade to a 4k screen. I mostly use my pc for photo and some video editing. Occasionally I like to play GTA V,  Skyrim, Star Wars Battlefront, Fallout 4 and some other games. Now I wonder if my 1070 can run these games. I don't expect to run them at ultra quality, but reasonably high settings would be nice, looking for 60FPS.

Doe other people here have a 4k screen on a 1070 and what is your performance?

Rest of the specs of my system:

6600k at 4.5Ghz

16GB DDR4

Zotac 1070 AMP!

Id say medium-high at 4k would yield you 60+fps

You will definitely need to turn down the graphical settings to get a smooth game play experience, expect a mix of Medium and high settings to be able to maintain that 60fps.

Just now, Abyss Gaming said:

high to medium 4k easily, if you want 60 fps.

If you want more detail in games, go to a 1440p screen (I have no idea if an extra 1070 would help for driving 4k at 60hz on Very High settings and up). OR, you can always buy the 4K screen and do your 4K photo and video editing work at that resolution and just run your games at 1440p or 1080p as it scales VERY well to those resolutions!

Thanks everyone for replying. I think medium to high or running games on 1440p will do fine for me!
