RC car help; battery size?

Hey enthusiasts,

 

I have this RC car: https://traxxas.com/products/models/electric/stampede-vxl-tsm

 

Problem is, the suspensions are broken. I have found some, but that's not the only problem. I need a body for the car as well as it's broken too. The only think I can see is a see-through body with some stickers (you would have to self paint it). Any recommendations?

 

Also, I need a battery, but I don't know how big it should be. The car is going to be used for a while at a time, but I'm not going to competitions and such, just a hobby to do with friends.

 

I know:

- 3 cell battery

- It's LiPo if that makes a difference

I'd go on hobby king and use their lipo battery selector, I did it for my quad not sure what sort of C you'd need but I'd guess like 40C? Don't really know too much about RC cars motors current draw.

There's a suggested one on their own website that has 25C. Gotta think I'm in Europe as well, so VAT is a factor.

I use hobbyking and I'm in the UK it's not too bad if you can get it from a european warehouse which you normally can do.

Yeah it's no problem, I didn't really know that many places where I lived that sold RC stuff so I just resorted to hobby king, there might be stuff on amazon but I'm not entirely sure about that as I haven't really looked at all.

Had a glimpse on Amazon and found a body for it, but I found it cheaper from a danish dealer (my country) afterwards. Seems to be cheaper local than abroad, but I don't know.

Hobbyking is cheap but you get what you pay for. In quads and airplanes they don't have the same current draw due to ground vehicles being on the ground and much heavier. You will go through 6 $10 packs by the time you go through half a $40 pack. Trust me. Get a half decent brand or two nice ones. But you don't want anything stupid like Max Amps. They are just dumb

This. That being said, I've had really good luck with the Turnigy Graphenes packs. Nanotechs are shit, I can't speak on the rest of the hobbyking packs.

How much current does your average truck pull at full throttle? Fpv quads can usually top 100 amps with a beefy 5" prop and four powerful motors.

There are a lot of variables, 2wd vs 4wd, tire size, terrain, and so on. I have never measured myself but I would assume somewhere around 30-80amps.

Hey ,

I have read  the thread

I personally have a Tamiya TT02-B started with NINH Battery-pack

And switched to LiPO S2 and there are a lot of things to look out fore

11)      Never use a soft pack Lipo in an RC-Car in case of an impackt

22)      You always need to have an shutdown electronic  for the LiPO battery pack

33)      Charging a LiPO pack you need a balancer and a charger (S2 and +)

44)      What do I need on capacity depends on your RC-Car. Say for e.g. your Speed Controller (ESC) can handle 150 Amps to deliver 150 Amps you take a look at the Battery specs and calculate the output of the LiPO. Capacity times C factor. Or in our case 150 Amps = 150000 mA =150000 mA/25c = 6000 mA

I think hard-pack Lipo

5000 mA and 30C will give you drive time. Lower C lower discharge = more drive time but lower top speed.

 

You might look at your gear ratio this is an factor too.

I personal drive a 4500 mA 45C S2 LiPO in a Tamiya TT 02-B and that is good for 5-10 minutes Drive time am Top Speeds of 80 Km/h = 50 mph

Yes the specs are ok from the Electrical point but
