Gtx 1080 TI or Gtx 1070 SLI ?

I'm going to suggest going with the 1080ti. I currently have two EVGA 1070 SC SLI and i hate it. If a game is scaled for SLI its great but a lot of games have problems. Also heat management with two GPUS gets out of hand and loud trying to cool everything. Stable GTX 1080ti with a few less FPS is going to be better then a headache with SLI. I already have my order in for a 1080ti. Hope this helps you out.

thanks alot man! tho im going to watercool it. but that just gave me the info I was after! tho the 1080 TI cost 850 dollars in sweden due to all our taxes  but its worth it in my mind!

Hello to the OP..

 

I've got 2x MSI 1070 GAMING X's in SLI and they're an absolute beast! With SLI being better optimised these days with nvidia solely concerntrating on 2-Way SLI as they've scrapped 3-Way and 4-Way SLI im sure SLI will get better becuase of this!

 

I can play all of my games maxed out at 4K @ ~60FPS sometimes more sometimes less.

 

I was thinking about selling and getting a 1080TI but it just isnt worth it. If a 1080TI is better than 1070 SLI then it is very marginal and not noticeable. From my experience I'd recommend you get another 1070 you wont be disappointed trust me! My firestrike score: 25,393 I could probably get higher than this as I havnt found my maximum OC yet.

I think either choice is good. 1080Ti SLI would be a killer and alot of $$$ lol!! For the record I think theres polarized opinions over SLI, it just comes down to personal choice. SLI scales better these days compared to years ago. I used to have 2x GeForce 7900 GTOs back in the day and my 1070s scale much better compared to my old 7900 GTOs. So thats evidence of improvement.

Eh...

I'd go with a 1080 ti.

I just returned my 1070 sli hybrid, because a lot of games were unsupported or badly supported.

Games such as Division, Rainbow Six, Watch Dogs/2, Quantum Break, and Just Cause 3 ran awful.

Some games though will love sli like Assassin's Cred Unity.

 

Basically, all the games I played seemed to have some sli issues... whether it's graphical issues or performance.

If you can, just go 1080 ti. You're not always going to lose frames, and even at the point of losing them, it isn't that much for stability. 

Plus... sli heat, that's an issue.

yeah i have pretty much made  my mind. In like 3-4 weeks I will be getting my tax returns so just got to hang on until then!

Ti. Having had a 1070 SLI config, a 1080, and now a 1080ti. I'd choose The ti over anything.

I agree with Linus on this topic, that being: When there is an option for a more powerful single GPU or having two less powerful GPU's in SLI. The single most powerful card you can afford is the best option long term, best compatibility with every game and most consistent performance. So my vote is 1080Ti

The Titan X(pascal) is the GP102 Chip from Nvidia

The 1080Ti              is the GP102 Chip from Nvidia

The 1080                 is the GP104 Chip from Nvidia

Therefore the Titan XP is not the 1080 with more vram and cuda cores

hey mate theres alot of stuff being said left or right blah blah! but im running a i7 7700k with 32gb of ram and sli 1070 only the cheap gigabyte ones they get warm but not enough to worry and i am completely happy with the results everyone goes on about how many games dont support it but they must be older titles cause so far ive had no issues cant say ive tried hundred of different games but im mostly using 4k with ultra settings on games and getting around 45-70fps on a1 titles higher on certain games that seem to be optimised well! if your planning on playing at 1440 your frame rates will be great and youll be able to play pretty much anything at the highest settings so far wildlands has been the only game ive had to drop a few settings to high to get a good frame rate! but ive play far cry primal, wildlands, for honor, ark, star wars battlefront, war thunder all a very enjoyable ecperience in 4k in sli also im running in 60hz, 144hz would be nice but alot of extra coin on a monitor and also a lot of extra work for your video cards!

From me also, clear recommendation for a GTX 1080 ti.

 

Multi GPU with weaker GPUs was a bad idea 10 years ago, and it's still a bad idea

Exponential more problems, bad scaling (rarely more than 170-180% performance, usually only 150% max), microstuttering for Frametimes, still only slow 8gb Vram with 256 GB/s.

 

1080 ti has 11gb with 489~ GB/s Bandwitdh. And it will have the full performance in every game.

 

Not to mention, much less power consumption, heat, noise..

You all need to understand limitations and where they come from.

 

First of all does your CPU and MOBO support more than 16 pci express lanes? 

 

Most likely youll be running two 1070s running on 8x/8x or 8x/4x because your mobo wont support the bandwidth of 2 cards running in full pci-e 3.0 16x on more than one slot. Not sure If this is available yet or If it is you'll need the top of the line MOBO and CPU. Get 1080 TI unless youre editing or modeling.

I have two Asus Strix 1070 OC and I max out everything on an Acer Predator 27" 2560x1440p, 144Hz monitor. I hope this helps you decide.
