Is an i5 2500 non K still good in 2017?

Hi, so recently my college was decommissioning their old Dell PC's and I managed to get an Intel Core i5 2500 from one of the IT guys there. I was wondering if this CPU is still good for gaming with the latest graphics cards of today or is it better suiting for something less like a GTX 750ti. I want to build a cheap used desktop and I was wondering if the 2500 is still worth it to build on.

If you got it for next to nothing or for free then I would say so.

would a GTX 1060 work? or would it be bottlenecked?

Probably will be held back, but if you can manage to upgrade the CPU later on (maybe to a i7 3770 or something) I'll get it.

should be fine tbh, buy the 1060 now so when you upgrade the cpu and mobo you got a decent gpu. Plus it will be an improvement over a 1050 ti. but you need a new power supply i imagine

I had a 2500 with my 980 for a few weeks, only noticed a slight improvement with my 6600k honestly

So yes, it's still a very capable CPU

I'm a fucking AMD kawaii weeaboo desu I have seen the light

it should be good up to a RX 480 or GTX 1060 for 1080p in most modern games.

1060 6GB or 480 would be a good pairing for the 2500.
