Razer has just announced their own line of digital currency call zVault, where it lets users make secure payments, earn rewards, and Razer product offers. There are 2 types of currency part of Razer zVault, zGold and zSilver. To start, users will use Paypal, similar services, or a Credit Card, to purchase some zGold currency, where 100 zGold is equal to $1 US dollar. The currency comes in fixed amounts of 3,000, 5,000, and 10,000. Once you have that, this can then be used to purchase in-game items or other digital contents from games and digital services that supports Razer zVault. As of now, there are a few games and digital stores, that lets allow Razer zVault currency, so maybe as it starts to grow, more will support it. Next is zSilver, Razer's zVault secondary currency. For this, there is no way of buying it like you do with zGold. It can only be earn when you use zGold when making a purchase or mined when you use Razer's Cortex and Arena software. When enough zSilver coins are earned, this can be used to make purchase on Razer own line of products from mouse pads, headsets, keyboards, to even laptops.

Spend 26 dollars to get 20 dollars off. Eh...this program is only useful if you intended to buy a razer product already. After my 2013 blackwidow ultimate/imperator bf3 combo, I don't.

Fuck all companies and using their own currency/point systems. Xbox even went away from those stupid microsoft points. Its all there to give you a layer of abstraction between the purchases and the dollars going out of your wallet. Psychologically it is easier to spend points if it doesn't have a dollar/pound/euro sign next to it. Sort of the same way it is to use a credit card doesnt have physical dollars coming out of your wallet.

 

Though, i will disclose my opinion wont have an impact on my purchases. Because i wouldnt touch anything razer has sold in the past no clue how long. Just another company that i will continue ignoring.

Most of these currency systems are in place to circumvent any potential taxation of digital goods if need be. Most countries these corporations do business in have provisions in their tax laws that they cannot tax digital goods if purchased in a currency not used by the government.

 

I'd rather use Microsoft Points or zVault currency if it means I or the company doesn't have to pay additional taxes for something that isn't tangible.

Wow... This is really horrible. This does not benefit consumers one bit. Instead it just locks them into buying Razer products. It's like buying gift cards for yourself.
