*Insert Name* R̶y̶z̶e̶n̶ Intel Build!

Brehohn

This here, is my brand new PC build. I just upgraded from my old 4670K and just wanted something newer.

Yes, this was a Ryzen build previously. However, after seeing GTA V (which is my favorite game to play) go below 40fps, I was done with it. I had Windows 10 installation issues that took multiple times. My sound program wouldn't work so that I could customize it. Battlefield 4 and Battlefield 1 had constant sound cutout issues. So after all of this back and forth, I'm just back with Intel until AMD makes something come out, on day 1, that is OPTIMIZED. Everything still looks the same as I got the same motherboard equivalent.

So please enjoy this clean build of mine. All specs are down below.

Case: NZXT S340 Elite in Matte White

CPU: Intel Core i7 7700K @4.5Ghz (for now)

Motherboard: Gigabyte AORUS Z270X Gaming 5

GPU: ASUS STRIX-OC GTX 1080

RAM: Corsair Ballistix Sport LT @2400mhz

AIO: Corsair H60 (for day one compatibility since I was a bit late)

PSU: Corsair CX750M

SSD: PNY CS1311 120GB

HDD: Seagate Momentum 7200RPM 500GB (came with previous build. Meh.)

EDIT: Ah yes. I do plan on watercooling but that's in the future. I will update it as that happens.

1. Thank you. I made it myself.

2. Because it was affordable at the time and works. WOOT.

3. Because I returned my 1070 to Micro Center and paid $50 extra for an open box 1080 :D

how is the motherboard? did you have any issues getting everything working?

Absolutely no issues at all getting it working. Came with the latest revision BIOS (which caught me by surprise) and the only issue I had, was a previously dying SSD that didn't want to load Windows 10 AT ALL after installing from the USB. Slapped this PNY in there and it all worked perfectly. I was going to get the ROG board day one, but 10 minutes after I got there, they received the Gigabyte boards and so I instantly swapped. Glad I did from hearing the issues with the ROG boards.

oops, meant 1080p (probably knew that though, but I could have been more precise) and I'm totally serious.  my 1050 ti kicks butt @ 1080p so I can only imagine a gtx 1080 lol

Want me to post benchmarks of what I'm getting? I'll literally just round it out from what I see sooo yeah. I can also do fire strike benches and stuff too.

I hate you right now. No, it's not something you did, but you've actually completed a whole build with a Ryzen7 chip and an Aorus Gaming 5, while I haven't even been given an estimate yet as to when my Gaming 5 and 1800X will ship, and I preordered...

Looks really nice though, I have to admit. I wish you the best of luck with watercooling it; I'd love to see that!

Hahaha I can understand the hate. Thank you though! The only reason why I got it so quickly is thanks to my local Micro Center store.

Also, not to mention, my monitor 75hz so I could care less that an i7 brings 20 more fps in the mid-100's. Don't care. I've done my own benchmarks and they are a noticeable difference.

Big update. Took my AMD stuff back to Micro Center and went back to Intel. GTA V went below 40fps when flying and my 4670K, with a RX480, never went that far. This is unfortunate, but I care about my gaming performance and realize I should have done this at first.

What are your temperatures with the 7700K and H60?

In AIDA64, just looking at it for a couple minutes, the average was around 80c. It was climbing very slowly upwards though. Definitely not the best temps but it's a temporary cooler for now. I'm sure with some fan profile tweaking I can make it a whole of a hell lot better.

Ok, right now, I'm really starting to think that's not good. Is that because it's newly applied thermal paste so I just gotta wait for it to settle?

7700k tends to run hot, mostly due to the poor quality thermal paste which Intel has applied between the Lid of the chip and the die of the chip. Most people are seeing 15-20c drop in temps when your 7700k is overclocked. If you are serious about overclocking, I would look up how to PROPERLY delid a 7700k. There are actually kits that range from 20-40 dollars which can be used to delid, and relid the CPU after replacing the thermal paste. As for the "settling" of the thermal paste, I have never heard such a thing as needing to let the thermal paste settle.

I know the TIM under the heat shield has always been quite ass. But when I'm gaming, I never exceed 72c which, in my book, is a win for a cooler like the H60. I guess the stress test would make it go up MUCH higher...duh.

lol, I was just about to correct myself when I said overclocking would drop temps, I actually meant delidding. And, that isn't too bad for a H60, are you overclocking it at all?
