Ryzen 7 1800X freezing at optimized defaults

So my Ryzen system just randomly freezes in Windows. The qcode read out does not show a crash, but I can't do anything but reset the system at this point. 

I am running a C6H with the 5704 beta bios. Any ideas what could cause this?

jaytwocents pointed out that he had some issues with the c6h (he bricked it after overclocking apparently) in todays video.

Maybe try a bios update?

Did you set winows 10 to high performance?

Try playing around in the BIOS because it seems like a RAM issue

yeah, I saw that and Paul's, too

 

bios is the latest available 5704, windows power plan is set to high performance and hpet is off.

hm, ok, will try. I have had it running at 3050 14-14-14-34, 1.4V and I also played around a lot with different bclk, multipliers, deviders and shit. 

 

Freezing behaviour was not impacted by this, still occurs randomly when booted into the os.

 

If there was a memory related problem the board's qcode readout always showed 8, for example when the bclk was too high or if memory voltage was not high enough. But when it freezes it shows 24 like it would be running normally. 

 

I will also try updating Windows 10 to 1607, maybe this will fix things? No idea at this point.

I guess this is just part of being an enthusiast. Debugging weird shit like this is not the most satisfying part of running the newest hardware, but it is fun nonetheless.

Also my EK Supremacy leaked all over the C6H yesterday, not great, but to quote Linus: "Well, that was exciting."

 

Also this performance is nothing to sneeze at.

tried that, multiple times. also on the current bios there is no difference between optimized defaults and factory defaults, I crosschecked that.

 

hpet is off because AMD recommends that according to Paul's video:

Probably just teething issues then. Best keep an eye out on the ROG forum (or OCN as well) for similar system specs and see if they've issues.

 

Odd that HPET is recommended off though. 

 

Although, what was your previous rig? Or is this all new? Some drivers could still be sitting around from the last hardware install.

kk, will do, maybe the guys in the ocn ryzen owners thread have some ideas...

 

Yeah, especially since Ryzen Master requires HPET enabled for overclocking to work. But even after trying oc with Ryzen Master it, I found it not useful at all, since the system has to reboot anyways to apply changes. So why not just reboot into the bios and do it manually, I guess...

 

Did a fresh install of Windows 10, just installed the amd chipset driver, intel lan driver, and oc tools. 

 

 

I will update this thread once my potato internet connection has managed to download the 1607 update.

Ok, so not the 1607 update, but the small updates and patches before fixed it already. My windows 10 installation stick was from the before 1511 days, so this could explain it.

 

Also, the guys on ocn have linked me to this thread, which has an even later bios (5803) than the one on the Asus download page.

haha same here but mine freezes on 0601 or 2 i forget 702 actually from 702-5704 i feel there was a 5702 but anyway it would not post till i got 5803 now i can post an go into windows but i get random freezes too imthinking of doing a reinstall of my os ??? it would be about the last thing iv tryed for myself i did memtest and passed my ream is 3200mhz gkill trident 16-16-16-36 16latency 32gb 2x16 but it runs at 2133  idk

well so far iv had almost no reply's no help sep for one guy on this site on a diff post. other then that iv been working on this for about 48hrs, found some info like on here and some other sites just wish ppl would reply with anything liek idk man lol.  actually thank you skullbringer for mentioning the win 10 version 1607, im up and running for over 1hr no freeze did a cpuz bench thing and got this after http://valid.x86.fr/cvizrf

i went from bricked bios to fixed, to freezeing all the time, to now working so far lmao if anything changes during my driver installs then ill mention it oh ya i wanna do a restore point after each driver or should i not i already have one from right after fresh install.
