  • Can AI take Linus’ job?

How “Game Mode” will make games run better on Windows

Source 1: https://arstechnica.com/gaming/2017/03/how-game-mode-will-make-games-run-better-on-windows/

Source 2: https://betanews.com/2017/03/03/windows-10-creators-update-game-mode-2/

  • Currently a game is just another process among many running simultaneously.

  • But with Game Mode, Windows will isolate CPU resources to be devoted exclusively to that game process

  • It allocates a majority of the CPU's cores to be devoted exclusively to the target game, so an eight-core system might get six gaming-dedicated cores

  • The system then moves threads devoted to other processes off of those gaming-focused cores, reducing thread contention among the various gaming process threads and improving performance.

  • The system gives an even greater majority of GPU cycles to the active game, reducing the time available for everything else

As someone who's suffered from a bad gaming experience for years and has had friends and relatives suffer from it, I'm deeply disappointed in you personally and LMG in general for enabling your bigoted, elitist attitudes.

As reviewers, they are objective to two categories: Best performance overall, and best performance for x price bracket. They don't give a damn who it's coming from, whether it would be Nvidia, AMD, or Intel. Any one of the three can produce the best of the best for whatever product tier.

They may have preferences for Intel or Nvidia, but they have to remain objective, otherwise no one is going to send them products for review.
