It probably runs hot but the FTW editions are also overclocked more so than the other editions, so it'll get even hotter. So that could be a reason why they went with three fans.

Well i like the smaller tramp stamp on the side. looks way more stream line. The only question is if the smaller fans might increase the sound profile.

It looks cool but I have to wonder about the cooling ability.  We've already seen questionable fan designs from EVGA recently in the past

And it seems to me, the shroud being full of holes as it is here is just going to let air that the fans pushed toward the heatsink effectively bounce back out of the card.  The air needs to be sealed in somewhat for the static pressure fans to force it through.

Good, I'll use the EVGA step up program to trade up my newly acquired EVGA 1080 FTW SC2 for that.

Ketchup is better than mustard.

GUI is better than Command Line Interface.

What I would recommend to any company making coolers for their cards 2.5 slots tall is to simply throw on a triple slot PCI bracket since it's already occupying three slots anyways from the cooler alone.
