When R5 CPUs are out you can make some good console killer builds for cheap.

One day Biostar could become just as good as the rest (Asus, MSI, Gigabyte, EVGA, Asrock).

Accoding to GN, x300 is physically smaller, does not support dual gpu like sli or cfx, and has no i/o support. Everything is handled by the cpu. It does however support overclocking and raid 0 and raid 1.

Biostar has historically opted for cheap and bad. They could change but they'll have a lot of proving to do. And this board has a 4 pin cpu connector...

You can use it in a small render box or other workstation uses, throw a R7 1700 in there and you got a cheap and capable one.

If I was going to to do my university course this year instead of going into it 10 years go I would jump at the bit for an 8 core M-ITX system at the prices Ryzen is going for!

The latter half of my studies I did get an M-ITX system because it was so damn easy to port around during holidays, workshops, and friends', only had a little 2600K Sandy-Bridge in it though; it was replaced with a rMBP in my final year.

 

 

When I just got a GTX 680 on it's launch in college.

 

That little sucker is a small Solidworks workstation these days; and still chugging along happily with a GTX 580.

I'd like to know what benefit X370 has over B350 on an ITX board. You can't SLI/CF on it anyway and both have the same configs for storage/IO and both have overclocking, so why get the more expensive X370 chipset when B350 is a cheaper solution for the same functionality.

The 'Average User' doesn't do ITX builds.  ITX builds tend to be for specific purposes; small size workstation, living room/HTPC, small size LAN machine or something like that.  When someone wants 'just some kinda average computer' they don't for for ITX components which typically cost more money than similar mATX or ATX components of the same performance level.

Many people simply don't see the point of gigantic ATX mobo  and big tower cases when they have no plan to SLI or Crossfire. ITX build makes so much more sense.
