ubuntu jdownloader config to use my server as default download location?

Ok, well first off let me explain something.

 

I have had my setup on windows for a long time now.. and got it so that I download straight to my NAS using jdownloader to skip having to transfer files, and it works perfectly, and have been using it this way ever since I built my NAS about a year ago. I am now trying to configure the same setup in ubuntu 16.04 mainly just because I want to learn more in linux and to have a backup for when windows breaks, as let's face it it's more likely to happen than not, lol.

 

So far I backed up settings from jdownloader2 from my windows install, installed jdownloader 2 to ubuntu and restored settings from file... piece of cake. Trouble is I cannot find the way of setting my NAS as the download default. I have tried so far:-

 

192.168.200.89/freenas/media

smb://freenas/media

 

I cannot work out where the problem lies. I can access my freenas server perfectly through the file browser and the web browser with no problems. I just can't set it as my default location in jdownloader and it's annoying to say the least... it just comes up saying "folder does not exist and do I want to create it" or invalid directory.

I apologise if this is a simple networking problem, but I have tried everything I can think of, and not being that experienced with linux, has me stumped... so hoping someone can help me please, thanks

OK, maybe I'm not explaining the problem correctly.

 

In the picture below, you can see that I don't get a choice of a network folder to save my files.

 

 

Have I not enabled being able to use network folders or something I'm not familiar with in linux?

 

 

 

I can access my network folders using files viewer very easily, I can also access them through the web browser using smb.

 

 

 

I don't understand why I can access the files/folders except when in a program, as the program won't let you specify network folders, it only gives you access to home folders, not even mounted drives. Can someone please help with this?

Nevermind, I have now got windows in a VM for the apps I was having problems with in ubuntu. I can find the server perfectly from inside my VM on those apps.
